    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    Member of the rehabilitation team to assess and evaluate patient needs and design and modify prosthetic and orthotic devices.
    The Prosthetics Orthotics Practitioner is responsible for providing direct patient care at multiple UW Medicine facilities including the off-site HMC Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinic in South Lake Union, inpatient and outpatient locations at Harborview Medical Center, and inpatient locations at UWMC-Montlake. The duties and responsibilities are divided into three main areas of focus:
    1) Patient Care
    2) Program Development
    3) Supervision
  • Assesses patient needs applying knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology synthesizes and reports assessment verbally and in writing
  • Designs and modifies prosthetic and orthotic devices to meet patient requirements
  • Performs fitting and fabrication techniques of prosthetic and orthotic devices
  • Provides patient and family education in the use and maintenance of prosthetic and orthotic devices
  • Directs the work of Orthotics/Prosthetics Technicians, students and volunteers
  • Assists in supervision of Orthotic and Prosthetic Resident
  • Participates in continuing education activities as required
  • Provides inservice presentations to staff and students
  • Maintains inventory and orders materials
  • Assists with development and implementation of clinical programs participates in interdisciplinary planning
  • Work within precise tolerances; use hand and power tools with skill; work safely
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Licensed by the state of Washington.
    Graduation from an accredited Prosthetic-Orthotic Practitioner program
    AND
    Eligible for certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics
    OR Equivalent education/experience.
