WORK SCHEDULE Day shifts (7:00am-7:30pm)
3x12 shift schedule
Must be able to work weekend shifts on a rotating basis
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Geriatric Psychiatry Unit provides dedicated services for geriatric patients with behavioral health needs
Our unit has a residential feel, with ample natural light, mountain views, and access to outdoor patient areas to promote serenity, comfort, and healing
Patients treated on our unit include those with dementia, depression, late-life psychiatric disorders, and neuropsychiatric complications from strokes
Our care team provides medication management, occupational and recreational therapy, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, nursing led activities, and guidance on relaxation techniques
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Triage incoming patients
Provide behavioral health education to geriatric patients and their families
Ensure patient safety protocols are followed, including restraint protocols
Monitor and administer oral and injectable medications
Coordinate patient care with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychiatrists, and occupational therapists
Provide personalized care to geriatric patients with compassion, dignity, and respect
REQUIREMENTS
1 year of recent inpatient psychiatric nursing experience
Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
Active BLS
Must be willing to work with geriatric patients with mild to severe behavioral health needs
