Hospital Assistant Administrator for Behavioral Health Services. The Assistant Administrator is a member of our senior nursing leadership team and will play a key role providing clinical leadership and operational guidance to our medical center.
POSITION OVERVIEW The Assistant Administrator for Behavioral Health Services provides strategic and programmatic leadership at UW Medical Center-Northwest. The Assistant Administrator will directly oversee 6-8 Department Managers and will indirectly oversee approximately 150 FTEs.
The Assistant Administrator will oversee the complex and integral operations of our hospital’s behavioral health service line, including our Geropsychiatric Program, our Long Term Civil Commitment Program, our Single Bed Certification process, and our Voluntary Adult Psych Program. The Assistant Administrator will also oversee the strategic oversight of our Center for Behavioral Health & Learning.
This position will collaborate with a broad number of departments and leaders across UW Medicine and will represent our medical center in local, statewide, and national committees.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with key stakeholders to achieve a strategic vision
Provides programmatic oversight in behavioral health to ensure key goals and quality standards are met
Identifies potential areas of development in behavioral health services and works with others to gain consensus for change
Develops effective action and implementation plans to ensure projects and initiatives meet operational and quality goals
Identifies new regulations, trends, and standards in the industry and evaluates how they apply to UW Medicine
Collaborates with Medical Director, Finance, and Senior Hospital Leadership to develop an operational budget
Ensures behavioral health policies and procedures are maintained and communicated to staff and providers
Leads regulatory readiness and survey activities for the Division of Mental Health Survey, The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare, and the Department of Health
Serves as internal resource and subject matter expert on behavioral health regulations
Monitors key indicators of clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and patient safety
Fosters professional practice of nursing, evidence based care, and nursing research
Utilizes knowledge and best practices to investigate and resolve complex clinical problems
Ensures sound onboarding is in place and holds staff accountable to expected levels of performance
Maintains a non-blame culture and leads development of psychiatric leaders to promote patient safety
Promotes the professional practice of nursing and allied disciplines
Allocates resources to perform audits, review adverse events, and collates findings to identify patterns for action
Monitors trends in healthcare industry and adapts to changes and new developments
REQUIREMENTS
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
5 years of progressive management experience in a Behavioral Health environment
Knowledge of Behavioral Health Policy at both the state and local level
Knowledge of care and treatment of behavioral health in the geriatric population
Prior work experience in an acute care clinical environment
Masters Degree in Nursing or a related field required. For those without a Masters Degree, enrollment in an accredited program will be required within 2 years of hire.
