DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Ambulatory Access and Business Operations team serves as the central support hub for all ambulatory entities within the UW Medicine system. The team oversees patient access, coordinates business operations, and manages the ambulatory contact center to ensure efficient scheduling and communication across all clinics, supporting high-quality outpatient care
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Serves a key role in the development, monitoring, and attainment of operational, financial, and strategic goals in ambulatory.
Participates in the design of information systems and provides education to ambulatory leadership on decision support applications and quantitative analysis
Responsible for working with operational and clinical leaders across the enterprise (both UWMC Montlake and Northwest campuses, Harborview Medical Center, and UW Primary Care) as well as collaborating with partner organizations including Fred Hutch
Partners and collaborates with teams across Access, Operations, Finance, Strategy, Labor Productivity, IT, and many more to support cross-functional projects and organizational goals
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize various applications such as Epic, SQL Data Marts, Horizon Performance Manager, Tableau, PowerBI for real-time and historical data analysis
Collaborate with internal departments to collect source data, design analyses, and develop reports using Excel or similar tools
Identify trends and opportunities for patient access improvements and key metrics
Make recommendations on reporting structure and dashboard presentations to support KPI reporting activities across clinics
Collaborate with Ambulatory leadership to develop materials summarizing data, implications, opportunities, and recommendations for improved access
Identify trends and improvement opportunities within individual service lines, leveraging knowledge of applications and data sources
Assist in the establishment and maintenance of various reports, including Referrals, Templates, Visits, Inbasket, Space Utilization, and more.
Provide user education on decision support data and applications to promote reduced reliance on analytic support over time
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or applicable degree
Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in health care data analysis
Strong analytical skills for synthesizing data and offering strategic recommendations
Proficient in interpreting and presenting data to decision-makers effectively
Highly skilled in database management, reporting, and using end-user tools like Tableau, Tableau CRM, or Power BI
Excellent communication abilities, both written and oral, including reporting and presentation
Collaborative team player, sharing data and achieving common goals
Extensive experience in using data for decision-making and trade-offs
Proficiency from intermediate to master level with Microsoft Office products
Capable of preparing accurate and complex financial analyses
Ability to communicate with all management levels, formulate recommendations, and work independently
Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement
