Per Diem Registered Nurse .
WORK SCHEDULE Per diem schedule / variable hours per week
Must be available to work 8 hour day shifts, Monday-Friday
Must have availability to work at least 4 shifts each 4 week period
Our clinic is closed on nights, weekends, and holidays
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Multiple Sclerosis Center at UW Medical Center-Northwest is one of the largest, most comprehensive multiple sclerosis programs in the United States and serves as a model for other multiple sclerosis facilities. Since its founding in 1977, thousands of patients in the Pacific Northwest have received diagnostic and therapeutic services here. Our facility includes an onsite, dedicated infusion suite and pharmacy as well as onsite MRI that facilitates same-day imaging. Our center has been an NIH-funded, national leader in multiple sclerosis research and our patients routinely have the opportunity to participate in clinical studies.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The RN will perform general clinic duties and will be cross-trained to provide infusion services for multiple sclerosis patients.
General clinic responsibilities include:
Monitoring patient flow
Coordinating patient triage, in person and via telehealth
Administering medications
Assessing and documenting care coordination within the clinic and among external community resources
Educating patients on ongoing care plans
Performing blood draws
Infusion-specific responsibilities include:
Screening patients for administration of medications via IV infusion
Ensuring patients who are presenting are able to tolerate their infusions
Placing IVs and initiating, assessing, and observing patients during infusions
Disconnecting IVs and monitoring patients post infusion
Documenting all above activities in the Electronic Medical Record
REQUIREMENTS
2 years of recent medical-surgical, ambulatory, or infusion nursing experience
Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
