Mental Health Practitioner, Substance Use Disorder Specialist WORK SCHEDULE 40 hours per week
Day Shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Be a part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to making a difference in our community
Be a resource to other team members on issues of Substance Use Disorders (SUD), motivational interviewing, and internal and external resources related to SUD
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The goals of the program are to provide screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment as well as short-term case management, brief therapy, crisis intervention, and referral to services to adults seeking SUD services as well as engagement for those in pre-contemplation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provide consultation, screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment, for patients and their social networks
Provide Substance Use Disorder (SUD) screening and intake
Use motivational interviewing techniques
Provide brief crisis interventions and brief therapy
Participate in case reviews
Chart patient contact in the electronic health record
Prepare information requested by outside agencies such as DSHS, Social Security Administration, and Seattle Housing Authority
Supportive interventions to assist people to develop their fullest potential (employment, continuing education, housing, community integration,
developing social supports, etc.) either directly or as a referral
REQUIREMENTS A Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work
OR Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or a behavioral science AND three years of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
