Registered Nurse (RN) in our Cardiac Rehab Center.
WORK SCHEDULE: 100% FTE, 40 hrs/weekly
Mon - Fri, Day Shift
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at UW Medical Center - Northwest has operated for 20 years. The program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and is staffed by a medically-trained, multidisciplinary team of nurses, exercise physiologists and dietitians, with oversight by a board-certified cardiologist. Patients enrolled in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program participate in exercise sessions supervised by critical care nurses and exercise physiologists specializing in cardiac rehabilitation. Exercise classes are conducted with treadmills and stationary bicycles, as well as hand weights, yoga balls, and other stretching and toning equipment. A cardiologist is on call during all sessions.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help patients prevent and recover from heart disease
Be aware of all participants in the gym and intervene if necessary before a problem occurs
Work with other team members and patients to help plan and restructure exercise routines, eating habits, stress levels and medication administration
As part of a multi-dimensional team, discuss and research heart healthy meal planning, provide guidance about effective exercise regimens and offer techniques to assist goal-setting and encourage lifestyle behavior change
Learn the latest techniques and information about the heart and cardiovascular disease management to provide our patients with the most effective treatments
Encourage participants to pace and push themselves as they progress through the program
REQUIREMENTS:
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington
At least 2 years of Cardiology, Telemetry, or Cardiac ICU nursing experience
BLS and ACLS certifications
Arrhythmia recognition and treatment skills required
