  • Harborview Medical Center – Rehabilitation Therapies has an outstanding opportunity for a PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT - INPATIENT.
    WORK SCHEDULE
    - 24 hours per week; 60% FTE
    - Day Shift
    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
    Serving patients with primary diagnoses such as of spinal cord injury, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. The PTA 1 provides physical therapy treatments to patients with complex neuro, medicine and musculoskeletal conditions and disabilities, assists the physical therapists with tests and measurements, assists in the clinical education activities. This position is an integral member of a multi- and interdisciplinary team providing care to a wide variety of patient populations. Under general direction, the PTA 1 treats an expanded patient caseload including patients with complex problems including multiple disabilities, acute multi-trauma, and/or complex neuro, medical, orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries or conditions, including pre-operative and post-operative conditions affecting the spine and/or peripheral joints. May instruct, assign work, and evaluate physical therapist assistant students; assist with the clinical education of other health care students.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    - Collaborates with the physical therapists and physical therapy aides to provide the best care to patients.
    - Provides treatments to patients with more complex problems such as multiple disabilities, acute multi-trauma and/or complex orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries or conditions.
    - Carries out and assists with implementation of treatment programs which include the use of physical agents, therapeutic exercise on patients with problems such as multiple disabilities, complex musculoskeletal impairments, and/or acute multi-trauma.
    - Makes suggestions for program based on knowledge, experience, and published evidence.
    - Collaborates with supervising physical therapists to provide coordinated, accessible physical therapy care/services.
    - Assists physical therapists in transitioning patients to next level of care in a timely and appropriate manner when have met goals or plateaued.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    - An Associate of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program that includes patient treatment affiliation.
    - Physical ability to move patients and equipment.
    - Current Washington State license, or license eligible to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
    - Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
