CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANTS (CNA) / PATIENT CARE TECHNICIANS (PCT) at UW Medical Center – Montlake work at the patients' bedsides and take care of basic patient care needs. PCTs support and interdisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, and other medical staff in caring for patients in need of physical and medical health care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Direct and indirect care to patients and their families under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse
Assist patients with activities of daily living: bathing, showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed or a chair, walking, using the toilet, and eating
Help maintain a safe environment of care
Prepare patients for surgery
Provide close observation for patients needing constant monitoring
Patient transportation
Assist with maintenance of equipment and supplies
Perform various clerical tasks
Take vital signs
PCTs may serve in several roles, including, Constant Observer and General Unit PCT

Our team cares for patients in all phases of recovery from medical and surgical procedures with care and compassion. Per Diem / Variable work shift
4SE SHORT STAY OUTPATIENT: 4SE is a short stay unit with 28 overnight beds (24 telemetry), with reduced beds available on Sundays and holidays. 90% FTE / Night
5E Surgical ICU: 5 East is a 14-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit located at the University of Washington Medical Center. 60% FTE / Nights - Fri & Sat
5NE MEDICAL: 5NE Advanced Heart Failure Cardiothoracic Surgery 50% FTE / Variable (Day/Even) - (10hr) 11am-9:30pm

5SA CARDIOTHORACIC ICU: 5SA is a Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU caring for post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, and cardiomyopathy patients requiring mechanical circulatory support. 60% FTE / Nights - Wed, Thurs, Fri - 11:00pm-7:00am
5SE CRITICAL CARE: 5SE, CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) is a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit specializing in patients with advanced heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, post myocardial infarcts and cardiogenic shock. 50% FTE - Days
6NE MEDICAL: The 30 bed 6NE Medicine/Cardiology unit specializes in providing acute care for diverse medical/surgical/cardiology patients who are acutely ill or injured and in varying stages of recuperation from diagnostic, therapeutic or surgical interventions. Patients with respiratory, medical, cardiac, or surgical diagnoses who require telemetry monitoring are admitted to this unit. 60% FTE - Nights, Fri, Sat - 7pm - 7:30am

6SA MEDICAL ONCOLOGY ICU: Our Medical Oncology ICU (6SA) is a 24 bed unit. Patient population on this unit includes medical ICU cases and Bone Marrow Transplant. No openings at this time
6SE ORTHOPEDICS: 6SE Medicine/Orthopedics is an acute care medical-surgical unit specializing in general Medicine and Orthopedic patients. We are dedicated to competent, compassionate patient and family centered care for adult patients who are acutely ill or injured and in varying stages of recuperation. 90% FTE - Nights - Wed, Fri, Sat - 7pm-7:30am
7NE ONCOLOGY: 7NE is an acute care inpatient unit providing care for adults with leukemia, lymphoma, and those who are receiving blood or marrow transplants (BMT) through the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Care provided includes initial diagnosis through end of life care. Patients requiring outpatient infusions or injections may be seen on Saturday, Sunday or holidays. 90% FTE - Days - Wed, Thurs, Fri
7SA/7N MEDICAL-SURGICAL: 80% FTE / Variable Work Shift
7SE ONCOLOGY: 7 Southeast is a 28 bed acute care inpatient unit dedicated to providing excellent care for adults on the Gynecology Oncology, Hematology Oncology, Urology, Surgery A, and Gynecology services. We provide post-surgical care along with chemotherapy treatments and management of symptoms related to the disease or treatment. Care provided includes initial diagnosis through end of life care. No openings at this time
8N REHAB MEDICINE: 8 North is a 16 bed Inpatient Rehabilitation unit. We provide specialized nursing care to patients with functional disabilities resulting from a variety of medical etiologies: spinal cord injury or disease (including tetraplegia with mechanical ventilation), acquired brain injury, stroke, tumor, amputation, and neuromuscular and musculoskeletal diseases. Patients with medically complex diagnoses, including those with solid organ, blood and marrow transplants, and mechanical circulatory support devices (VADs), may also be admitted. No openings at this time
8NE ONCOLOGY: 8NE is a 28 bed Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) acute care unit. We partner with 7NE, 7SE , 8SA, 8SE and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to provide a full spectrum of care for patients and families who are receiving treatment for hematologic and autoimmune diseases. 100% FTE / Days - Monday - Friday - 7am-3:30pm
80% FTE / Nights - Friday-11pm - 7:30am, Saturday, Sunday 7pm-7:30am

RESOURCE TEAM: The Resource Team is home to nearly 200 employees, united in meeting the supplemental staffing needs of the UWMC. Our team includes the Staffing Office, Stat Nurse Team, Vascular Access Team, Patient Flow, Patient Transport, Patient Care Technicians, Nurse Technicians, Patient Service Specialists and Registered Nurses. We manage an auxiliary overflow unit. Staff work closely with Patient Flow in a collaborative effort to provide the most efficient patient centered care possible. 100% / Nights - No schedule

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current, valid Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) with WA State (please indicate your NA-C credential number on your resume)
High School graduation and six months experience involving direct patient care or customer service in a health care setting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card upon hire.
