    Harborview Medical Center’s (HMC) Orthopaedic Trauma & Fracture Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for an ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant.
    WORK SCHEDULE:
    • Full-time, 40 hours per week
    • M-F Day Shift
    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
    The Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Clinic at Harborview Medical Center treats the most complex orthopaedic injuries among patients in the broader Pacific Northwest region, including Alaska. The clinic offers care for numerous conditions including bone fractures, soft tissue injuries, bone deformities and failure of bones to heal. Our team provides individualized treatment plans using non-surgical, minimal invasive and open surgical techniques.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Assist with preoperative and postoperative care of orthopedic patients
    • Formulate a treatment plan for orthopedic problems within the scope of practice.
    • Implement therapeutic intervention for orthopedic conditions when appropriate.
    • Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals.
    • Work with clinical staff to triage patient symptoms and concerns for both telephone triage and walk-in patients.
    • Obtains and records medical histories, performs physical examinations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, establishes diagnosis and follows current standards of practice for prescribing medications and/or establishing treatment protocols. Recognizes own limitations and consults when appropriate.
    • Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment and collaborates with the physician to develop management and treatment plans.
    • May perform minor surgical procedures, such as wound debridement, and removal of pins and external fixators.
    • Delegates tasks and duties to coordinate effective and efficient health care.
    • Performs Other Related Duties As Assigned such as orientation of staff, residents and medical students to clinic procedures
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Nurse Practitioner:
    Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
    AND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
    AND National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
    AND ACLS certification
    OR
    • Physician Assistant:
    Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA).
    Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
