The Associate Director position is designed to develop and lead strategic initiatives related to the Hybrid MBA (HMBA) Program - Foster's online MBA at the Foster Business School. This position leads the admissions, recruiting, marketing, and alumni relations for the HMBA Program. The position works with the Executive Director to develop strategy implementation and execution that will ultimately fulfill the expectations to the business school and various program constituents.
The position is strategic in nature, which involves looking at the bigger picture and how decisions impact the program, school and University as a whole. In addition, the position requires a good understanding of how the various business functions, departments and positions can be best assessed, managed and utilized to obtain optimum results.
This position is required to make strategic decisions that will support overall departmental goals and strategies both with respect to prospective students, admitted applicants, students and alumni. In addition, the Associate Director is required to develop and recommend changes and improvements to current processes and procedures and work with appropriate departments and resources to ensure such changes/improvements are explored and implemented if feasible. The position would play a leading role in developing policies. The Associate Director is expected to use existing departmental data, benchmarking data and other research information to make decisions and to put forth recommendations. In addition, this position should be prepared to think strategically about the tactics and objectives of the department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting, Marketing & Admissions (80%)
• Monitor, analyze and report marketing data used to determine advertising, direct mail and event effectiveness and trends from year to year. Using this information, make recommendations regarding changes and additions to current and future marketing plans in collaboration with the Director as needed.
• Regularly monitor competitors and investigate potential recruiting opportunities that would benefit the program. Make independent decisions for improvements and provide expert advice to upper management about best practices.
• Represent the program at UW Foster School events and other community business functions.
• Identify and partner with appropriate local and regional business associations. Manage sponsorship activities and analyze ROI to the program.
• Develop and manage strategic communication plans, including blog, social media, emails, to drive attendance to events and application completion.
• Review applicant files, conduct admission interviews and make independent decisions regarding student admission to the program.
• Work closely with Marketing & Communications and other Foster staff members to ensure University and Business School policies and procedures are followed and communicated and that there is a continued sharing of best practices.
• Conduct information sessions, application workshops and other programming for prospective applicants and manage communication follow-up. Revise content as necessary.
• Collaborate with Associate Director of TMMBA and other Foster MBA Programs in developing best practices, researching trends and developing cross-program content and events.
Alumni Relations (10%)
• Build relationships with alumni and develop ways to engage them in program activities, recruiting and UW initiatives.
• Collaborate with alumni on developing company recruiting events and participating in program recruitment activities.
• Determine and manage continuing education programming.
• Collaborate with Foster Alumni Team as it applies to annual reunions, events, and communications.
10% Administration
• Monitors student support and program and facility operations. Offers direction and ways to improve as necessary.
• Serves as "de-facto" program head in Executive Director's absence and makes independent decisions.
• In collaboration with other team members, assist with the planning and execution of quarterly immersions and graduation.
Lead Responsibilities:
This position leads the admissions, recruiting, marketing, and alumni relations for the HMBA Program. The position works with the Executive Director to develop strategy implementation and execution that will ultimately fulfill the expectations to the business school and various program constituents
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in business or related field. Three years of experience working in an academic environment with direct experience in marketing higher-ed programs, event management and interacting with various stakeholders including, applicants, prospective students, current students, alumni and cross-departmental personnel.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated experience with collecting, analyzing and reporting data for decision-making.
• Experience using a CRM system for managing and covering leads.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in business administration or similar field
• Experience with adult online learners is a plus.
• At least two years of marketing and/or recruiting and admissions experience within higher education.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in public-speaking and engaging with diverse groups.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a group.
• Strong team-building and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects and resources.
• Must have extensive experience using Office software including Excel, Outlook and Access. CRM experience helpful.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be available to attend evening and weekend events as needed. Some local, regional and international travel required.
