Hall Health Center currently has an outstanding opportunity for an 80%-100% FTE Primary Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (Physician Asst-Adv Rn Pract (E S SEIU 1199NW Res/HH). This position provides direct acute and continuity care for patients in late adolescence through older age in an ambulatory setting. Under general supervision of the Unit Head or Team Leader, the ARNP works independently in the diagnosis and treatment of patients at Hall Health Center in accordance with existing scheduling and productivity policies.

ARNPs work as part of collaborative teams utilizing broad skills to care for patients with acute and chronic medical problems. This is an 80-100%, 11-12 month position
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Patient care: provides patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of physical and mental health, prevention of illness, and treatment of illness. Competence in caring, in particular, for the physical, mental, and sexual health needs of the undergraduate and graduate student population.
  • Medical/Clinical knowledge: demonstrates knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.
  • Practice-based learning: uses scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care.
  • Interpersonal Communication skills: demonstrates interpersonal communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships ith patients, families and other members of the healthcare teams.
  • Professionalism: demonstrates behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, an understanding and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude toward their patients, their profession, and society.
  • Systems-based practice: demonstrates both an understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is provided, and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve and optimize health care.
    DUTIES:
  • Performs examinations (including GYN), establishes diagnoses, and determines appropriate treatment, follow up, or referral for patients.
  • Records medical histories, orders and/or performs diagnostic tests, evaluates test results, and prescribes medications for treatments.
  • Provides counseling, information, and advice in health maintenance, healthful life styles, contraception, care of physical and mental health illness, and treatment of injuries.
  • Provides and participates in in-service education programs.
  • Participates in campus community outreach work.
  • Maintains professional skills and CE requirements in specialty area.
  • Maintains prescriptive authority.
  • Participates in Hall Health Center educational, risk management, and quality assurance programs.
  • Works with other health care team members to assure optimal delivery of health care.
  • May assist in the clinical training and precepting of various levels of health care professionals
  • May design, conduct, and/or participate in research activities.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the State of Washington, or equivalent legal license/certification
  • Must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the organized medical staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for Hospital-based positions.
    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
