Medicinal Chemistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist Engineer 3. Duties and Responsibilities: 80%Structural and biophysical characterization of viral proteins and virus particles using structural mass spectrometry. Method development for applying H/D-exchange mass spectrometry to proteins in complex biologically relevant milieu. Data analysis (HDExaminer, DriftScope, Byonic, HX Express, PEAKS, Excel), Cell culture and protein expression and purification (IEX, SEC, Nickel purification), Protein characterization (Native-PAGE, SDS-PAGE, DLS) Buffer and reagent preparation, DNA preparation. 20% Mentor and help train junior researchers in HDX-MS and glycoprofiling methodology as well as sample purification on a limited basis
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biophysics, or equivalent and four years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biophysics, or equivalent
Minimum 3 years experience in research lab environment.
Express and purify protein from mammalian and bacteria expression systems.
Carry out H/D-exchange mass spec experiments and analysis.
Perform glycan profiling.
Ability to perform HDX-MS and covalent crosslinking experiments on intact viral particles and virus-like particles
