full-time, day shift, RADIATION THERAPY TECHNOLOGIST LEAD. Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of staff; make recommendations regarding performance evaluations. Perform specialized radiation therapy procedures such as cyclotron-based neutron radiotherapy, fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery, intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy, dose-intensive conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, and the treatment of pediatric patients under general anesthesia.
WHAT WILL YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE? This position must demonstrate competency in the following activities:
Equipment Operation:
Must be able to operate a linear accelerator using the current operating system and record and verify function.
Must be familiar with current radiation safety standards
Understand patient set-up including appropriate use of immobilization devices, head masks, bolus, etc.
Must be familiar with current policies and procedures.
Patient Preparation and Interactions
Ability to explain process to patients and reassure them
Ability to monitor patient during treatment and take corrective actions if necessary
Must be familiar with infection control methods such as appropriate hand hygiene and equipment cleaning and sterilization methods.
Teamwork and Communication
Able to work cooperatively with team members to ensure patient safety
Treats patients, families and co-workers professionally and with compassion
Able to communicate effectively with clinical team members including physicians, RNs, medical physicists and others
Understands basics of patient confidentiality and privacy
WHAT’S NEEDED?
Two years experience as a Radiation Therapist.
Current license in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
OR
equivalent education/experience.
WHAT’S DESIRED?
Ability to safely operate Radiation Oncology treatment and simulation equipment
Experience with IMPAC documentation and operating systems
Basic computer knowledge.
LICENSE REQUIRED
Licensed by the State of Washington to practice and administer radiation.
