HEALTH SERVICES MANAGER to lead our Employee Health Clinics at UW Medical Center - Montlake and UW Medical Center - Northwest. Our Employee Health Clinics provide occupational health services - we do everything from N95 fit testing to ergonomic evaluations to pathogen exposure case management - and this position will ensure that UW Medicine continues to foster a safe, healthy, supportive work environment for our staff. This is a great opportunity to lead an experienced, collaborative team in a role where no two days are alike.
SCHEDULE 40 hours per week. This position will primarily work day shifts, Monday - Friday, but will have 24/7 accountability for program management and the delivery of quality care.
POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Assistant Administrator and working in collaboration with the Employee Health Medical Director, the Health Services Manager will provide managerial and direct operational leadership for the Employee Health Clinics at the UW Medical Center campuses. The Health Services Manager will oversee an estimated 12 employees, including Registered Nurses, Program Coordinators, and Certified Medical Assistants. The Health Services Manager will manage the clinic cost centers and will assure alliance with UW Medicine's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The Health Services Manager will collaborate with others (internally and externally) to ensure that program priorities, performance and outcome measures, and regulatory requirements and standards are met. The Health Services manager will also work in partnership with our Infection Prevention Division on key system-wide initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES Provides oversight and program direction leadership for the Employee Health teams at both UWMC campuses.
Uses evidence-based practices to ensure that facility policies are followed in an environment that optimizes safety.
Provides leadership for the annual flu campaigns, and for ad hoc activities such as post-exposure follow-ups and health screenings for new hires.
Effectively maintains all required records for the clinic, including employee medical records.
Acts as an advocate for staff health and wellness.
Ensures that the clinics meet regulatory standards with JCAHO and the DOH, including environment of care standards.
Works closely with Infection Prevention to complete surveillance and exposure follow up activities.
Consults with other clinical departments to collaborate in operations and performance improvement activities.
Supervises the work of the Employee Health Staff
Interviews and hires new staff.
Completes regular performance evaluations for each staff member and conducts evaluations for new staff prior to the completion of their probationary period.
Counsels employees, develops staff and, as appropriate, utilizes the disciplinary process.
Plans and organizes orientation and in-service trainings for staff.
Develops, justifies, and maintains a fiscal plan for Employee Health.
Monitors clinic expenses and operating expenses (salaries and capital expense items) and provides appropriate reports to the Assistant Administrator and Medical Director.
Monitors utilization of equipment and supplies and oversees the supply ordering process.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
An active RN license in Washington State
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or a Master’s in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Epidemiology, Business or related field, or enrolled in a Master’s program
At least 4 years of management experience in a medical setting
Previous work experience in employee health, occupational health, or an equivalent setting
Working knowledge of epidemiology and infection prevention principles
Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH, and other regulatory agency standards

Demonstrated excellence in customer service in daily interactions with patients, family members and medical staff
Demonstrated ability to manage the financial performance of the clinic and demonstrated knowledge of ensuring compliance with billing policies
Demonstrated ability in process improvement to optimize clinic flow and operations
Demonstrated interpersonal skills in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilities cooperation and collaboration to meet goals
Demonstrated skill in Human Resources management such that staff are productive and function well as a team. Ability to have tough conversations as needed, counsel staff and utilize corrective disciplinary process as needed
