The Sr. HR Operations Manager oversees and manages the HR Operations, Compliance, and Immigrations teams.
Responsibilities
- This role will drive HR operational excellence and support optimal employee experience.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders at all levels on human resources policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive standardization, process improvement and automation to areas of oversight.
- Monitor regulatory changes and updates and implement or evolve any current practices to drive compliance; identify and communicate any exceptions or items of concern to HR leadership and lead the process of issue resolution.
- Implement process that ensure compliance for I-9 documentation and completion of other new hire tasks.
- Serve as the department representative for internal and external operational audits, develop corrective action plans and provide reporting to leadership.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of rules, regulations, and statutes in relation to I-9 compliance and HR reporting.
- Maintain discretion with regard to the handling of sensitive information and requests.
- Lead and guide the Immigration process, including non-immigrant visas (H1B work permits) and the permanent resident process.
- Develop and implement Workday self-service user guides in partnership with HRIS to support employee and managers.
- Ensure the timely completion of required regulatory reports including Affirmative Action, EEO1 and Vets 100.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Manage the yearly budget process and ongoing expense processing.
- Guide additional programs including but not limited to unemployment claims, employment verifications and access/review of employee records.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in an HR functional and/or operational role.
- 5+ years of people management experience.
- Strong customer/employee experience focus.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly.
- General knowledge of both federal and state employment laws.
- Exemplary verbal/written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize.
- Time management skills.
- Comfortable with data and the ability to use it to create meaningful, understandable reports to include executive summaries and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Proven success managing projects, documenting the details, and owning the end result.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast paced change.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, judgement, and problem-solving skills.
- Workday experience preferred.
In addition to job duties at Fred Hutch, this position also requires access to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, which requires COVID-19 vaccination without exceptions.
Accordingly, as a condition of employment for this Fred Hutch position, newly hired employees must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
