MEDICAL ASSISTANT - COVID TESTING SITE (TEMPORARY / PER DIEM, DAYS)

UW Medical Center – Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary (0% FTE, variable hours per week), day shift CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT to join our COVID Testing Site. This is a great opportunity to be part of our local response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Medical Assistant will play a multi-faceted role at the COVID Testing Site. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient sample collection, provide patient care coordination, and will play a key role ensuring smooth test site operations.
SCHEDULE:
The Medical Assistant will regularly work Saturdays and Sundays from 7am - 3:30pm. The Medical Assistant will also work Monday - Friday from 7am - 3:30pm on a per diem basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and tear down the COVID Testing Site
  • Clean, organize, and restock supplies onsite
  • Maintain site cleanliness, wiping down all tables, chairs and similar surfaces
  • Call security to lock up testing site at the end of the day
  • Break down bags at the end of the day
  • Transport lab tubes to the appropriate departments

  • Greet patients and employees at garage test site
  • Direct individuals to the swabbing station
  • Pull, prep, and verify swab bag for utilization

  • Swab patients and employees at the COVID Testing Site
  • Verify patient demographics
  • Swab individuals and place sample in fridge

  • Schedule, change, and cancel appointments for tests
  • Review no-shows and call to reschedule
  • Maintain Reports for leadership

  • Other Testing Site Responsibilities
  • Monitor flow of collections site to ensure efficient workflow
  • Answer, log, and redirect phone calls regarding COVID 19
  • Monitor, respond and document employee health emails and in-basket for EPIC
  • Review patient appointments to ensure tests are completed in a timely manner
  • Review and make corrections to employee information on various digital platforms
  • Monitor test results and update Redcap
  • Prepare COVID specimen bags for swabbing
  • Complete check-ins in EPIC
  • Maintain communication with resource staff at UW Medicine

  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.

  • DESIRED:
  • At least 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience

    COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

    Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14.2 requires employees of higher education and healthcare institutions to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen.
