The UWMC - Neurology Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a
part-time, day shift, MEDICAL ASSISTANT. Medical Assistants (MAs) perform duties to assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of patients. As a member of the health care team, the Medical Assistant helps to create a culture of professional excellence and helps to maintain an environment that respects cultural, economic, ethnic and lifestyle differences of patients and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES Monitors and manages the flow of patients in the clinic
Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic
Performs direct patient care procedures according to their level of education, certification, and clinic protocol
Provides skilled assistance to providers performing patient care procedures in the clinic
Provides accurate, appropriate, and culturally sensitive education to clinic patients
Cleans scopes as directed to ensure availability for procedures
Ensures exam rooms are properly stocked with equipment and supplies
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age
Assists providers and clinic nursing staff in the maintenance of clinic processes to ensure timely follow-up on reported test results
Assists with coordination of care including clarifying patient follow-up and scheduling patient appointments
Accurately and thoroughly documents provision of patient care in a timely manner
Performs duties of other support staff as required by clinic needs
Performs other related duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
