Director, Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) will be responsible for aiding in the development of UW Medicine overall HTM strategy. This Director will be charged with developing a deep understanding of client focused needs. This Director will support business objectives and future operating initiatives as developed by the TBD UW Medicine Operations. This Director will be responsible for providing vision and innovative analysis of all Biomedical and Imaging systems within the UW Medicine domain. This position must manage expenses, deliver status reporting, and assist in making recommendations for contracted services and new revenue development. This Director must monitor continuous improvement of future directives, product recalls, regulatory changes, and deliver quality roadmap advice. The Director must participate in Clinical and Technology Advisory Councils as appropriate and obtain feedback from clients to establish and ensure proper department strategy, goals and priorities. This position is accountable for ongoing relationship management with key stakeholders from our current and future clients.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement consistent policies and procedures that guide and support functions of the Clinical Engineering Department.
Review and rank all strategic capital requests for biomedical equipment; assess and prioritize all strategic capital requests.
Develop and meet goals with respect to biomedical technology in support of strategic plan.
Collaborates with UW Medicine IT services on projects and biomedical equipment that impacts the EHR
Provide clinical engineering resources to review the maintenance capital submittals for biomedical equipment at all sites as requested.
Provide clinical engineering resources to manage medical equipment planning for construction projects involving biomedical equipment at all sites as requested.
Provide clinical engineering resources to conduct pre-purchase evaluations, research vendors, assess cost of ownership, and other activities in support of biomedical equipment acquisitions.
Provide clinical engineering resources to offer initial inspections and acceptance testing for acquisition of biomedical equipment.
Provide clinical engineering resources to participate in the investigation and reporting of medical device related incidents.
Provide clinical engineering resources to participate in the medical device hazard and recall notification program.
Provide clinical engineering resources to comply with the Joint Commission medical equipment management standards.
Provide management of equipment performance and service vendors to maintain the highest standards of patient care. When products or services are found to be unsatisfactory, the director is responsible for expediting solutions, including replacing equipment or terminating service agreements.
Integrate management of biomedical equipment maintenance at all sites.
Implement and maintain standard tracking and reporting platform for biomedical equipment across the system
Communicate with key clinical customers through participation on system committees.
Optimize annual capital purchasing power by identifying opportunities to consolidate purchases across sites and fiscal years.
Negotiate system-wide service agreements with vendors where appropriate.
Supervise and participate in in-service training of new technicians and clinical staff concerning use and operation of patient care equipment
This leadership positions ensures that clinical engineering at UW Medicine provides safe state of the art medical equipment to the clinical workforce of the University.
The lead responsibility is to manage the clinical engineering departments at all entities. Ensuring that all regulator, safety and financial operations are met at each entity, and oversee the directors of clinical engineering of each entity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in Health Administration, Business, or Public Health and 6 years of experience in a related field
OR
Equivalent combination of work and experience
DESIRED SKILLS:
Strong Background in Bio-engineering
Strong written, verbal, and public relations skills
