UW MEDICAL CENTER SPORTS MED CENTER has an outstanding opportunity for an
experienced, full-time (FTE 100%, 40 hours a week), day shift, PHYSICAL THERAPIST 3. The Sports Medicine PT3 will be responsible for evaluation, planning, directing and administering physical therapy evaluation and intervention to patients with complex medical diagnosis and/or difficult social situations (multi system impairments and or multiple co morbidities) referred by a licensed provider. This individual will administer treatments and physical agents as determined by the evaluation in an effort to restore function and prevent further disability following injury, disease or physical disability.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage/instruct and mentor a full or part time student including identifying the student’s learning style, setting weekly goals in collaboration with the student and progressing the clinical education at an appropriate level. Completes all appropriate documentation (i.e. CPI).
Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
Directs and delegates appropriately Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, student assistants, Medical Assistants and volunteers. Provides evaluation of coworkers including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and termination.
Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department. Manages caseload independently, asks for help as workload/census varies and volunteers available time to other clinicians.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Follows hospital and department policies and procedures related to infection control, personal and patient safety. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety. Maintains personal work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized school of physical therapy or completion of a Physical Therapy program AND at least two years of relevant experience as a Physical Therapist.
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 3-5 years of Physical Therapy experience
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
Current WA State license to practice as a Physical Therapist
DESIRED:
1-2 years of Sports Medicine experience
