UW Medical Center – Montlake has an exciting opportunity for a
full time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day shift REGISTERED NURSE to join our General Internal Medicine Center (GIMC), located in the U-District of Seattle. The GIMC is a dynamic teaching clinic that provides patient-centered care with the best available medical evidence. The GIMC provides comprehensive services for adult patients, including behavioral health care, chronic disease management, preventive medicine, and primary care services.
Learn more about our General Internal Medicine Center here. SCHEDULE: 5x8s (9:00am - 5:30pm), Monday - Friday. Our clinic is closed on nights, weekends, and holidays. New staff typically work 8:00am - 4:30pm for their first few months.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Registered Nurse will play an active role on our internal medicine phone line and will handle phone triage on a daily basis. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for answering patient calls and MyChart messages, following up on medical records and test results, managing prescriptions and referrals, and providing nursing advice in person, via phone and via telehealth. The Registered Nurse will play a key role educating patients and their families on ongoing healthcare needs. When needed, the Registered Nurse will also assist providers with routine procedures, including catheter changes and wound care.
REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: An active Registered Nurse license in the State of Washington DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Recent experience in primary care, internal medicine, or a similar practice area
Recent phone triage experience
Recent outpatient nursing experience
