The UW Bothell School of Educational Studies has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Marketing Specialist.
The UW Bothell School of Educational Studies engage students in the study of Education through undergraduate majors and minors, post-baccalaureate teacher certification programs, graduate degree programs, and professional development programs for practicing educators.

Job Description:
This .50 FTE specialist position reports to the Director of Academic Services, works with the Academic Services team, and is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of marketing strategies in order to increase enrollment in School of Educational Studies academic programs. The position will develop and implement marketing, outreach and recruitment strategies for all programs, with a greater percentage focus on graduate programs. The position collaborates with school, Division of Enrollment Management (DEM), Advancement and Communications to reach potential students to enroll in SES programs. In addition, the position will have an external focus, participation in outreach activities and community events, as well as assisting with the development of relationships with external partners.
Job Duties:
Student Recruitment for SES programs:
• Partner with academic services team to develop and implement a recruitment plan for school programs
• Assist the graduate program academic advisor in responding to prospective student inquiries, following up with program information and outreach, as needed.
• Plan and staff student recruitment activities, including virtual experiences
• Represent program at public events, career fairs, recruiting events, conferences
• Energize and help coordinate faculty, alumni and student involvement in recruitment efforts (internal and external)
• Create and update promotional materials – presentations/webinars, displays, flyers, phone scripts, etc.
• Collaborate with graduate program advisor, enrollment management and other programs across campus in support of recruitment and retention activities
School Marketing and Program Promotion:
• Assist with the development and implementation of marketing plan for school, with a focus on graduate program including the development of an annual calendar of marketing activities and processes
• Liaison with UW Bothell marketing and communications staff to coordinate branding and SES efforts with overall UW Bothell efforts and ensure use of UW branding, SES logo, and communications and style guides
• Partner with Advancement to create strategies to engage alumni for recruitment of prospective students
• Build relationships and act as liaison with local non-profit, K12 human resources, and other educational associations and organizations locally and regionally, as well as other relevant units on campus
• Develop a list of networks to market to (undergrad programs, local school districts, other educational organizations.
• Create and manage social media marketing campaign
• Partner with Program Coordinator, advisors/others to assess website for best marketing/communication best practices
• Participate in EAB Consultant discussions around marketing
• Create a portfolio of templates, graphics, language, contact lists
• Create priorities for use of marketing budget for materials, etc.
• Design print and online marketing materials per best practices and realistic budget/current landscape.
• Create/write marketing material for newsletter and listservs
• Develop M.Ed. short videos of faculty and alumni for website
• Interview/write alumni spotlight for website for each month/quarterly
• Promote the School via news stories on website and social media
• Lead development of quarterly school e-newsletter, meeting proactively with faculty and staff to develop relevant articles and topics. Generate content (including writing articles, conducting interviews, editing other’s articles, etc.)
Other Duties:
• Attend quarterly UWB Communications meetings
• Attend weekly Academic Services team meetings and biweekly SES staff meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, business, English, education, or related field
• Two to three years of experience in student recruitment and/or program promotion, including proactive participation in the development and implementation of marketing and/or communications strategies and materials.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the importance of and commitment to not only recruiting, but retaining students.
• Experience supporting social media efforts
• Experience with web-based conferencing/meeting technologies
• Superior organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects while ensuring deadlines are met
• Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to work professionally, productively, and collegially with a broad range of individuals,
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Strong public presentation skills
• Strong eye for detail and high standards of accuracy
• Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, using an Access database)
• Proficiency with basic photo editing and graphic design
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working with online degrees, preferably within a marketing, student recruitment and/or student services capacity Experience with recruiting and retaining BIPOC students
• Video editing experience
Conditions of Employment:
Position may include occasional evening and weekend hours to attend community marketing/recruitment events and occasional travel to community sites external to UW
