Job Description
We’re looking for Senior Manager External Communications to help us execute on an external communications strategy that will support Hootsuite’s reputation in the market and achieve overarching business objectives. You’ll be working with cross functional teams and key executives to build on Hootsuite’s thought leadership and global PR strategies to foster and expand upon Hootsuite’s brand leadership position.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Hire, train and mentor the external comms team. Lead through influence, collaboration and continuous learning; Oversee management of contractor and global PR agencies ● Elevate the brand and reputation of senior executives, aligned to corporate objectives, business priorities and unique executive’s personal thought leadership through diverse channels. Expand their presence in Tier one media through byline placement, extending their social content, cadence and reach. Identify key speaking opportunities and awards opportunities and pursue.
- Develop and execute social media communications strategies for our executives, including evolving leader profiles across multiple platforms; LinkedIn Lives; managing posts, comments and engagement; and aligning with our social media teams’ calendar
- Engage in clear, concise and articulate communications in both the Hootsuite brand voice, and that of the execs - displaying excellent verbal, writing and editing skills and creativity in the delivery of strategic narratives and compelling storylines
- Establish, monitor and report on KPIs that advise on targeting/campaign objectives. Identify new external comms opportunities.
- Responsible for developing an overarching executive thought leadership strategy framework. Leverage our internal social media teams and external agency partners to ensure content is engaging and impactful across all platforms
- Develop executive engagement and media training programs, ensuring that all engagements represent the tone and voice of Hootsuite
- Produce and publish multimedia content, both internally and externally, including written, visual and digital assets
- Provide critical issues management and crisis comms support to crisis lead, impacting Hootsuite, our brand, our people and our customers. Responsible for triaging additional internal support and resolution recommendations
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Extensive relevant experience including a strong background in journalism, communications, and crisis communications
- Mastery of external communications with a fluency in social and the most current and leading edge communications practices to create a differentiated brand
- M anaging communications around a range of corporate and crisis situations , including issues preparedness and planning activities with an air of calm and confidence
- Coaching, developing and managing internal team, contractors and agencies to timeline, budget and measurable results with scalable processes
