UW Primary Care is a network of community-based clinics throughout the Puget Sound region. The clinics offer a wide spectrum of primary care services, as well as secondary care, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Urgent care services are offered seven days a week at select locations. UW Medicine will host a virtual interviewing event on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 3:30 PM - 5 PM to recruit for full-time/part-time/per diem Medical Assistants (job profile: Medical Assistant - Certified).

  • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by rooming patient, taking vitals, recording patient history, obtain the chief complaint, and update significant changes in the patient history, for example recent hospitalization and emergency department visits. Review the patient medication list for patient adherence and notify the provider of changes or problems. Assist with examinations, procedures and treatments; apply sterile technique as indicated and maintain infection control measures. Following all components of our patient rooming expectations.
  • Observes and documents the patient’s condition and vital signs into the electronic medical record. Recognizes symptomatology of common medical illnesses and accurately reports to provider.
  • Acts as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers.
  • Schedules, prepares, and assists provider with procedures.
  • Performs basic laboratory examinations and reports abnormal laboratory values. Assists in transporting patients as required.
  • Participates in pre- and post-procedure patient education.
  • May assist providers in conducting educational sessions. Instructs patients on preparation for laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.

  • REQUIREMENTS
    Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.
    LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
    DESIRED
    At least one year of medical assistant experience is preferred
