Overview
The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
Working independently, the Pharmacy Technician II role performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including admixing IV medications, maintaining Pyxis fills, managing inventory and purchasing needs.
This positions is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $4000.
Responsibilities
- Provides good customer service to providers by being attentive and quick to respond at pharmacy window and follows through on problems
- Manages specific areas of pharmacy operations including working independently as assigned, assist in maintaining pharmacy stock and ensure no expired medications are in the clinic, by following the inventory control process
- Uses proper aseptic technique in preparing injectable medications accurately and efficiently
- Prepares, packages, and labels medication in an accurate and efficient manner
- Proficient in both hazardous (chemotherapy) and non-hazardous IV compounding
- Ensure completion of routine cleaning of the pharmacy and IV room
Qualifications
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of Pharmacy Technician program
- Certified as a Washington State Pharmacy Technician
- Able to perform pharmaceutical calculations
- Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, and enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently
- Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Familiar with the generic names of drugs along with their basic indication
- Accurate and aseptic IV admixture preparation
Preferred:
- Certified as a Washington State Pharmacy Technician from an accredited technical institute
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records such as Epic
- Chemotherapy IV admixture experience
- Ability to operate a Point of Sale system
SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.
Exceptions exist only for employees whose positions are fully remote, with no required access to campus. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees requiring access to campus must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
