Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Chaplain (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Spiritual Care at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

Responsible, supportive work providing spiritual and emotional care to patients, families and staff of Swedish Health Services. The staff chaplain also acts as liaison between patients/families and community clergy.

In this position you will:

• Provides pastoral counseling and emotional support to patients, families and staff members
• Participates in regular Spiritual Care staff meetings.Initial spiritual assessments, taking appropriate action and/or follow-up, including but not limited to the provision of direct spiritual counsel, prayer and sacraments
• Participates in on-call responsibilities
• Maintains accurate and timely written records of visits to patients/families
• Coordinates with the patient’s own rabbi, minister, priest or other religious representative in the community, as appropriate

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Completion of 4 units of CPE
• Current Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains or National Association of Jewish Chaplains; be provisionally certified; or be eligible to obtain certification within 1-3 years of employment
• Ordination or commissioning for chaplaincy, and Endorsement by ecclesial body for chaplaincy
• Must be a member in good standing within endorsing body
• Must maintain professional certification
• Three (3) years experience in ministry with one (1) year in a medical setting.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

• Master's Degree in Divinity or equivalent degree
• Previous experience using an electronic medical record
