UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC) is a network of community-based clinics throughout the Puget Sound region. The clinics offer a wide spectrum of primary care services, as well as secondary care, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Urgent care services are offered seven days a week at select locations. UW Neighborhood Clinics has outstanding opportunities for
full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day shift Medical Assistants. The Medical Assistant performs duties required to assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of clinic patients, provides individual and group patient education, conducts basic diagnostic tests, provides follow-up for patient post-treatment care, and performs a variety of clerical/administrative functions, provides standard health messaging and education. As a Float Medical Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of primary care and urgent care clinics plus specialty areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare patients for examination and treatment by rooming patient, taking vitals, recording patient history, obtain the chief complaint, and update significant changes in the patient history, for example recent hospitalization and emergency department visits. Review the patient medication list for patient adherence and notify the provider of changes or problems. Assist with examinations, procedures and treatments; apply sterile technique as indicated and maintain infection control measures. Following all components of our patient rooming expectations.
Observes and documents the patient’s condition and vital signs into the electronic medical record. Recognizes symptomatology of common medical illnesses and accurately reports to provider.
Acts as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers.
Schedules, prepares, and assists provider with procedures.
Performs basic laboratory examinations and reports abnormal laboratory values. Assists in transporting patients as required.
Participates in pre- and post-procedure patient education.
May assist providers in conducting educational sessions. Instructs patients on preparation for laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant Interim Certification in the State of Washington
DESIRED
At least one year of medical assistant experience is preferred
