Swedish Medical Center is looking for a RN Flow Coordinator/Expeditor (0.65 FTE, Variable Shift) to work in Command Center at Swedish Shared Services in Seattle, Washington.

The RN Flow Coordinator / Expeditor plays a pivotal role to decrease barriers, improve patient access and enhance quality of care using clinical expertise, leadership, organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills. The Expeditor collaborates and provides support to other healthcare providers, patients, physicians, and care programs. Personal and professional development is an expectation of the role to ensure consistent application of procedures, patient flow processes, and optimal communication

In this position you will:

  • In real time, expedite, prioritize, synchronize and mediate clinical issues, remove barriers to discharge and address delays in care.
  • Triage alerts and situational awareness via investigation per the electronic medical record and additional clinical resources.
  • Manage deviations from patient care pathways; resolve bottlenecks, variation in service level agreements, optimize communication and prioritization with support services and a variety of clinical departments
  • Provide leadership and work with STOC colleagues to address patient flow issues.
  • In concert with Case Management, anticipate and determine strategies for long length of stay or complex discharge patients.
  • Collaborate with STOC operations and acute care leadership to identify process improvement strategies, reduce patient length of stay (LOS), trend delays, support quality initiatives and enhance patient safety
  • Define patient activity triggers and feedback mechanisms to inform operational team members, physician leaders, and administrative team to mitigate over capacity situations
  • Develop strategies to manage surge in patient volumes
  • In collaboration with STOC leadership, develop quality and performance criteria and metrics for specific departmental initiatives
  • Assists in distribution for current and following shifts and helps coordinate available personnel to meet needs of current and future staffing demands

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse License with the State of Washington
  • BLS
  • Five (5) years clinical experience with two years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in acute-care facility

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
