Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Physical Therapist (0.8 FTE, Days) to work in Physical Therapy at Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, WA.

This position provides quality inpatient and outpatient physical therapy services to adult, geriatric, and select adolescent and pediatric patients by identifying patient needs and developing individualized physical therapy programs. Increase public awareness of health and safety issues by providing community and hospital staff education.

In this position you will:

• Provides quality patient care for inpatients and outpatients of various ages including selected pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric by: performing assessment and evaluation of the patient on referral to determine patient's level of function; developing a treatment plan based on evaluation with participation of patient and family as appropriate; establishing measurable goals described in functional terms, which include time frames for achievement; administering treatment based on established plan or goals; and assessing patient's progress and results of treatment on a timely basis and revising plan or goals as appropriate.
• Communicates effectively regarding patient's progress or concerns both verbally and in writing with physician, patient, family, other hospital personnel and community agencies to facilitate the assessment of patient's achievement of goals and to estimate further rehab potential on a timely basis.
• Oversees all treatment provided by PT Assistants, supportive personnel and students (after one year clinical experience) to assure consistency of quality care and comply with physical therapy standards of practice. Provides orientation, training, guidance and direction as needed. Provides feedback and/or evaluates their performance as required.
• Maintains all required and necessary documentation in the medical record to promote continuity of care between caregivers and meet JCAHO, hospital, payer and quality of care standards.
• Provides instruction and education to patients, their families and/or significant others, and the public in order to enhance the knowledge, skills and behaviors, which are necessary for them to benefit fully from health care interventions and to meet their ongoing health care needs.
• Continuously improves patient care delivery and enhance own professional development through system/process analysis, performance improvement procedures, problem solving, continuing education, departmental in-service presentations and program development.
• Promotes smooth functioning of department operations by adhering to established hospital/department policies, procedures and protocols. Takes initiative to learn new procedures and protocols in a changing health care environment. Helps achieve departmental and hospital goals and objectives by knowing and following JCAHO, hospital and department standards and promoting physical therapy services to patients, physicians and the public.
• Maintains safe and effective use of all department equipment for patient care activities by learning how to use equipment properly, following precautions during use, leaving equipment clean and ready for next person, returning all items to their proper location, and promptly reporting any defective equipment to Rehab Manager.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested to meet the needs of the department.
• Provides clinical supervision for PTA, support staff, students and volunteers.

Qualifications:

Required for qualifications this position include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
• Certification from a physical therapy curriculum
• Current Washington State Physical Therapist License
