Patient Sitter - Float Pool

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Patient Sitter (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) to work in Float Pool Department at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

Patient Sitter will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee, performs a variety of tasks to assist ensuring that assigned patient(s) is safe and unable to harm themselves. Performs non- direct patient care duties as assigned.

In this position you will:

• Assist professional nursing staff with direct observation of patients by performing basic non-technical tasks under direction and supervision.
• Provide secondary assistance with nursing staff for patient bed mobility, positioning and patient transfers.
• Adhere to department/system procedures and standards.
• Assure a clean and safe environment in patient room or location of care. Continue to observe patient’s environment to ensure safety and comfort.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff – demonstrating a positive and caring attitude; demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s emotional, social and mental health needs.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

• College classes with a pursuit of health care degree
• Multilingual
