UW Medicine Faculty Practice Plan Services (FPPS) supports UW Physicians (UWP), a practice group for more than 1,800 physicians and other healthcare professionals associated with UW Medicine. UW Medicine includes Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center - Montlake, UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Medical Center - Northwest, the UW School of Medicine, Valley Medical Center, and Airlift Northwest. UWP members also practice at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, a partnership of UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
UW Medicine FPPS has an outstanding opportunity for a
General Ledger Accountant! This role is responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts and the production of financial statements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Ability to calculate, prepare, and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures.
• Ability to check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
• Ability to classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
• Ability to compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
• Ability to debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and local employment regulations and tax processing.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Ability to complete detail-oriented work in a timely manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive
information with solid judgment and discretion.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet quality and production standards.
• Ability to read and understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
• Ability to work well with a variety of people and be a team player.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey a positive and professional image, and to interact effectively with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
• Excellent typing/keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy to input data, process information and extract information in various report and presentation formats.
• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
Computer/Software:
• Proficiency with Windows based software and Microsoft Office Suite products in a network environment.
• Knowledge of ADP GL, SAGE ERP, FRX, Business Objects and Cognos preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare monthly journal entries from source reports, including Activity Reports, Budget Activity Reports, etc.
• Prepare monthly reconciliation for the general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements.
• Maintain the tracking of contracts.
• Assists the Controller in preparing audit schedules for the annual audit.
• Perform special projects and other related assignments as requested.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required. Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
• 2 years of comprehensive financial accounting experience.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
