Physician - Cardiologist – Structural/Interventional
Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a full time Cardiologist , specializing in Interventional Cardiology with a particular focus and training in Structural Heart to join our care team of 12 cardiologists. This position offers multidisciplinary collaboration with a collegial team of dedicated and talented providers and staff.
Position Highlights
Team Approach to Cardiology. The Cardiology service line works together to provide comprehensive cardiac testing, medical therapy, electrophysiology, interventional, and surgical services to a wide variety of patients. We take a multidisciplinary team approach to developing care plans for complex patients. MD providers are supported by a multidisciplinary team including ARNP's, PA', RN's, MA's, and administrative staff.
Integrative Cardiology Service Line. The service line includes the Cardiology clinic (in eight Virginia Mason locations across the Puget Sound), cardiac testing (also eight locations), device clinic (6 locations), and our Seattle based services of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Cardiac Rehab.
Innovation. Innovation is encouraged at all levels at Virginia Mason and faculty have the opportunity to learn and apply the principles of the Virginia Mason Production System (VMPS). VMPS is unique in health care and has earned us numerous health care quality, innovation and safety awards.
Teaching Opportunities. Virginia Mason Cardiology supports an internal medicine residency program through clinic based rotations with Cardiology. We also offer shadowing opportunities for medical students, as well as mentorship opportunities with ARNP's and PA's working in Cardiology.
Research Opportunity . Research is not required but encouraged and supported. Virginia Mason runs numerous clinical trials through partnership with the Benaroya Research Institute, renowned for discoveries in auto-immune disease. Internal pilot grants are available. The Virginia Mason Center for Health Services also supports publication of innovations in health care delivery.
Career Growth. The cardiology service line and other departments within the medical center are dedicated to training and developing leaders from within the organization for all types of clinical and administrative roles.
Compensation. Includes competitive salary, vacation, retirement and health benefits, and faculty education allowance.
Position Specifics. Last year, our Structural Heart program completed about 100 TAVRs (spread across 4 providers), 40 Watchman procedures (across 3 providers), and 10 MitraClip procedures for which this position is the sole provider. All Interventional Cardiologists have one day/week in the Cath Lab (also their call day), participate in 1 in 4 PCI call (STEMI call coverage), and also participate in 1 in 12 general Cardiology call. Cath Lab days run from 7:30 – 5:00 and average 4-5 cases, mostly elective. Clinic days run from 8:00 – 5:00 and the minimum visit expectation is 16 per clinic day. Additionally, each Cardiologist is expected to do one half day Saturday clinic/year.
