Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Senior Business Development Specialist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA.

Working in collaboration with executive leaders and management team, the Senior Business Development Specialist leads efforts to develop and implement a variety of strategies and tactics designed to improve market share throughout the region.

In keeping with the strategic and marketing plan, the Business Development Specialist Senior develops and communicates an understanding of regional competitors and services and works with service groups to refine and update program development priorities in response. The Business Development Specialist Senior develops working relationships with physicians and assists in facilitating contact with community referral sources through a variety of mechanisms including personal visits, educational lectures, meetings and additional outreach opportunities both clinical and community based. Personally establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with referral sources, and serves as an information resource and contact point for referring physicians with SMC, SMG and Providence; this includes troubleshooting issues and working with the clinic directors to ensure patient issues are resolved. Advises on the development of informational packets and service guides to support referrals and professional access to SMC services, including consultation and advice on web based referral information. Works with Corporate Communications to develop and implement marketing campaigns, public relations and web-based initiatives. Works closely with patient education to develop education materials, which align with the strategic plan and goals of the assigned network and/or service area. Cultivates community outreach opportunities, working with SMG/SMC business development group and outside group

In this position you will:

  • Assists with organization-wide business development/strategy/patient experience projects upon request by CSO or other senior leaders
  • Develops and communicates an understanding of regional competitors and services and works with service groups to refine and update program development priorities in response,
  • Develops working relationships with physicians and assists in facilitating contact with community referral sources through a variety of mechanisms including personal visits, educational lectures, meetings and additional outreach opportunities both clinical and community based,
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with referral sources, and serve as an information resource and contact point for referring physicians with SMC, SMG and Providence; this includes troubleshooting issues and working with the clinic directors to ensure patient issues are resolved,
  • Advises on the development of informational packets and service guides to support referrals and professional access to SMC services, including consultation and advice on web based referral information,
  • Works with Corporate Communications to develop and implement marketing campaigns, public relations and web-based initiatives,
  • Works closely with patient education to develop education materials, which align with the strategic plan and goals of the assigned network and/or service area
  • Cultivates community outreach opportunities, working with SMG/SMC business development group and outside groups
  • Understands the needs and concerns of referring providers, and identifies and resolves issues that may make it challenging to refer into Swedish
  • Seeks opportunities to promote satisfaction and loyalty among referring providers, increasing admissions and referrals into the Swedish system, and creating a clear personal front door to Swedish
  • Markets Swedish specialists, services and programs to referring providers, and helps promote and orient new physicians on the Swedish medical staff
  • Formally tracks service issues raised by physicians and patients, alerting Swedish managers of concerns, escalating issues as appropriate and closing the loop with the physicians when issues are resolved

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, business, healthcare, education, or a related field
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license
  • Possession of the minimum (or greater) auto insurance coverage as mandated by the state of Washington
  • Knowledge and experience in the service line (Cardiac or Neurology) is required
  • Proven leadership experience and success operating in a multidisciplinary environment with physicians, staff and hospital executives
  • A proven track record of increasing market-share with new and innovative technologies or services is required
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative
  • Possess knowledge of the local and regional competitive programs and have relationships with physicians and administrators throughout the region
  • Must be s self-starter, with the ability to build trust, lead teams to gain consensus and be a team player
  • Must have proven success in taking initiative in identifying opportunities and solving challenging problems
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, highly organized, attentive and able to multitask

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Masters Degree in Health or Business Administration
  • Five or more years of middle to senior level management experience coordinating community outreach and marketing health care services to physicians
  • Ability to document using a customer-relationship management database
