Pharmacy Systems Analyst III

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Clinical Information Systems, the Systems Analyst III is responsible for the technical implementation and support of pharmacy-based systems at the SCCA.
Responsibilities
- To work alongside with the IT teams and Pharmacy staff as an analyst to design and maintain the system with the other teams, supporting hardware and software including but not limited to: Pharmacy application, Retail pharmacy application, Pharmacy integration with EHR, reports, point of sale, Pyxis, Dose Edge, Carefusion, Citrix, printers, cameras, and hand-held devices.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, support and development to assigned applications and implement new products.
- Troubleshoot, research, and solve technically challenging problems involving integrated systems
- Work collaboratively with Informatics, users, stakeholders, and sponsors to assess departmental needs to create technical requirements documents.
- Develop documentation of test plans, technical documentation, release notes, end-user guides, training programs and/or other materials as necessary.
- Provide education and training for application end user community – keeping them informed of new release feature/functionality,
- Analyze and document client's business requirements and processes; communicate requirements to technical personnel by constructing basic conceptual data and process models, including process flowcharts and technical specifications.
- Work collaboratively with Pharmacy and Technical Teams to develop designs, mockups and prototypes.
- Communicate technical design issues to non-technical people.
- Provide ongoing communication with users, managers, corporate directors and vendors to assure support and current initiatives.
- On Call Support Required
Qualifications
Required:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or similar degree
- 5+ years of demonstrated data warehousing & business intelligence experience
- Minimum two years development experience using SQL.
- Experience with Cerner and/or Epic healthcare systems, Agile software development, preferably Scrum, Cognos or Business Objects report development.
- Experience collecting user requirements, translating to system feature enhancements, and requesting enhancements of a system administrator
- Demonstrated experience in training clinical end-users of various levels of technical savvy
- Demonstrated experience working with teams in the development and support of applications, and in implementing production systems in a healthcare organization
- Ability to evaluate user proficiency in application via direct observation
- Ability to work exceptionally well independently and as part of a team
- Excellent ability to communicate expectations clearly and succinctly, both in e-mail and orally.
- Good follow-up skills
- Ability to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities
- Ability to develop, maintain, and report on timelines for projects.
Preferred:
- Strong understanding of computer terminology and database design basics
- Strong understanding of software usability criteria and design
- Knowledge oncology patient care services
- Knowledge of patient care operations in out-patient or acute care and/or research setting.
- Knowledge of JCAHO, DOH, and other regulatory requirements
- Lean processes or CPI knowledge and exposure
- Experience with Beacon Willow Inpatient or Ambulatory or Cerner PharmNet
- Experience with Pharmacy and Oncology processes.
