    The project manager position will be under the direction of Dr. Heather Greenlee, a member of the Public Health Sciences and Clinical Research Divisions and Medical Director of Integrative Medicine Program at the SCCA. Dr. Greenlee’s research program uses both clinical trials and observational studies to examine a broad range of lifestyle modifications (diet, physical activity, weight management) and complementary/integrative therapies for cancer prevention and control, especially in under-resourced and vulnerable populations.

    Position Overview

    Dr. Greenlee is seeking a part-time (50% FTE) project manager to oversee the Greenlee Studies budget portfolio and coordinate administrative tasks for specific Greenlee Studies projects. This position is currently posted at 50% FTE and is expected to grow to 100% FTE over the next year. Budget portfolio management includes grant pre- and post-award management and overall budget tracking and reporting. Administrative projects include developing and tracking work agreements and contracts across multiple internal and external departments and institutions. This position will be responsible for managing the administrative aspects of a new website at Fred Hutch focused on healthy eating and nutrition for cancer survivors. This position will work independently in performing responsibilities, and be comfortable as part of an interactive and interdisciplinary team. Strong skills in multi-tasking, communication, organization, attention to detail and interpersonal relationships are critical to this position. Collaboration and cooperation are essential to functioning within a team that values a positive and interdisciplinary lab culture. The project manager will work with administrative and support staff across multiple local institutions, including Fred Hutch, SCCA and the University of Washington (UW), as well as with collaborators at outside institutions and national organizations.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee financial operations of Dr. Greenlee’s research portfolio, which includes Center funds, grant funds, and other resources
    • Develop budgets for new, continuing, and renewal grants and contracts utilizing established policies and independent judgment
    • Develop, interpret, and administer project/study policies and procedures according to protocol, IRB, grant/contract and Center specifications
    • Assist with pre-award administration; reviewing sponsor’s program guidelines for eligibility, preparing grant application documents, and communicating with collaborators, vendors and consultants
    • Assist with post-award administration; managing sponsored account budgets, reviewing budget utilization on a regular basis and comparing actual expenses against final budget plan
    • Administering Institutional Review Office (IRO) submissions; developing IRB applications, continuing review reports, research modifications, and consent forms
    • Direct a large-scale, complex project that involves multiple internal and external stakeholders including partners in the Director’s Office, Philanthropy, Business Development and Human Resources
    • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
    • As a project administrator, collaborate with marketing, design and UX, and content directors to plan and help manage major web, user experience, content and multimedia projects, including determining required support resources; assisting with sprint/campaign planning, communication and design; and tracking progress against milestones and key deliverables
    • Serve as program liaison with key constituents in other administrative departments and scientific divisions; foster strong collaboration and understanding of department capabilities and strategic priorities
    • Define and document project scope, goals and deliverables that support organizational goals in collaboration with stakeholders and senior management; develop full-scale project plan, timeline and associated communication document using appropriate tools; identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths
    • Assist Dr. Greenlee in hiring, managing and developing a staffing plan for the design and web production team
    • Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria
    • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably a master’s degree in public health or health services
    • Experience with grants management
    • Experience on project or program management, especially on community outreach and health education.
    • Skilled at working with minimal supervision on high-profile projects
    • Exemplary organizational skills, attention to detail and service orientation
    • Excellent communication skills with stakeholders at all levels of organization
    • Experience with staff supervision
    • Ability to work effectively on fast-paced, complex projects
    • Commitment to work collaboratively and effectively with all constituent groups
    • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with project management methodologies and tools; proficient in Microsoft Office applications
