Azure Data Analyst

Job Description

Position Description:

We are looking for a highly analytical and technically proficient Azure Data Analyst to join our data team. This role involves working with large datasets, building data pipelines, and supporting data-driven decision-making using the Azure tech stack. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Python skills, experience with Databricks, and a solid understanding of data modeling and source-to-target mapping.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Analyze, interpret, and transform complex data sets using Databricks, SQL, and Python.
• Develop and maintain source-to-target mappings for data integration and transformation processes.
• Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to define data requirements and ensure data quality.
• Utilize Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse) to support data ingestion and transformation.
• Create and maintain documentation for data flows, mappings, and business rules.
• Support data modeling efforts and work with modeling tools to design scalable data structures.
Future-Focused Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the development of AI/ML-ready data pipelines and real-time analytics solutions.
• Implement data governance and metadata management practices using Azure Purview or similar tools.
• Support the transition to data mesh or domain-oriented data architecture.
• Drive the adoption of self-service analytics by enabling business users with curated datasets and semantic layers.
• Participate in the development of automated data quality checks and data observability frameworks.
• Stay current with advancements in cloud analytics, data modeling techniques, and Azure innovations.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Proficiency in Databricks and Azure data services.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
• Ability to write pseudo code and translate business logic into technical specifications.
• Experience with source-to-target mapping and data transformation logic.
• Exposure to data modeling tools and techniques (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have:
• Experience in the Banking or Financial Services domain.
