This is what you will do:

The Director HEOR will be part of our EUCAN & International Team, and be the HEOR lead for one of our emerging/expansion markets regions in Alexion.

The person we are looking for will be the expansion markets’ HEOR speaking partner and go to person supporting and guiding countries on the development and execution of HEOR projects like Modeling, RWE, and Patient Centered Sciences. The role also consists of working closely and aligning with global & country colleagues on HEOR and HTA strategies, study planning and implementation supporting HTA submissions for the Alexion portfolio of products.

The position will be based in Barcelona, Spain, and will report to the Head of HEOR EUCAN & International.

Through key leadership and partnership across functional teams, the job holder also embeds global HEOR strategy into broader disease area and clinical development strategies. This collaboration builds strategies to demonstrate and differentiate the value proposition and corresponding scientific evidence of Alexion products for payers, HTAs, patients, clinical institutions and other key stakeholders.

The HEOR Director partners with and provides thought leadership to Market Access, Clinical Development and Commercial teams on the specific HEOR needs and requirements for Alexion’s pipeline and inline products specific to Alexion’s expansion markets .

You will be responsible for:

Utilizing in-depth knowledge of HEOR with disease area and portfolio strategy to develop and build capabilities for the expansion markets in Alexion.

In particular this individual will work with our expansion markets to support initiatives which incorporate the patient's perspective into clinical research and real-world evidence studies. This would entail developing and implementing HEOR specific methods to assess the impact of diseases and treatments on patient and health outcomes.

Builds collaborative relationships with cross-functional leaders across Research & Development, Commercial, Market Access functions to maximize evidence generation efforts throughout the product lifecycle

Partners with the Therapeutic Area (TA) heads to develop TA business strategies and clinical development plans that will provide a competitive advantage to differentiated payer and HTA evidence for the emerging markets.

Continually monitors the global marketplace for market access issues, identifies access/demand hurdles and creates plans to demonstrate the value and differentiation of assets within the therapeutic area portfolio

Cultivates and maintains relationships with key experts, influencers, and customer segments to foster and maintain Alexion’s credibility to support the value and reimbursement of Alexion products in the emerging markets.
Maintains the relationship with external agencies and monitors their performance to ensure that performance and deliverables meet business expectations

Provides HEOR leadership and guidance to Alexion’s expansion markets making sure the markets have access to the most relevant, up to date and appropriate HEOR tools.

Develops best practices in HEOR including approaches to research methodologies, study designs, and endpoints selection..

Provides oversight and guidance to the expansion markets country teams in adapting the global strategies into tactical plans through robust Health Technology Assessment processes throughout the product lifecycle

Providing subject-matter expertise and training on HEOR, RWE and PROs to Alexion’s expansion markets country teams.

You will need to have:

  • PhD, MSc in health economics, outcomes research or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years prior experience in HEOR in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical or consulting industry
  • Strong Expertise and hands on experience in HEOR.
  • Experience with and good understanding of cost effectiveness and budget impact modeling.
  • Knowledge of the field of Health Technology Assessment at a global level and experience of negotiations through the HTA processes
  • Experience in RWE, both prospective and retrospective observational research.
  • Knowledge of the drug development and commercialization process within pharma
  • Recognized as a strong leader with a proven track record of effectively managing, influencing and developing people including those who are not direct reports: demonstrated ability to lead and deliver results in a matrix environment, and solve complex issues that cross multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of effectiveness as a team player; excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent project leader who can effectively manage multiple competing priorities to completion
  • Flexibility and adaptability to internal and external change
  • Fluent in English spoken and written

We would prefer for you to have:

  • Experience and knowledge in rare disease conditions
  • Exposure to and understanding of the international emerging markets access landscape
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English
