The Department of Neurology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator to join their team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Research Support 75% Study coordination
Coordinate ongoing study activities, track project timelines and respond to study staff questions and concerns.
Track and report site progress and performance throughout the study.
Identify and Problem solve study operations and implementation issues for ongoing quality improvement.
Draft and submit human subject applications, modifications and status reports to Institutional and Ethical Review boards.
Remain up to date with the latest guidance from the institutional and ethics review boards and determine the impacts of new guidance on ongoing and future studies.
Contribute to the writing of study status reports to funders.
Coordinate with principal investigators to ensure that research activities are performed in accordance with federal regulations, and university and sponsoring agency policies.
Develop and oversee implementation of study close out plans.
Perform other related duties as required to keep the studies moving forward and on track.
Train and oversee new undergraduate and graduate assistants to draft and manage study and IRB document.
Protocol development and implementation
Develop to study protocols, consents, case report forms, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure study protocols, consents, case report forms, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and implemented appropriately in the field.
Implement the previously designed COMA_SABI research study.
Contribute to the study design and logistics for implementation of research studies.
Identify operational obstacles and find solutions for proper study implementation.
Actively participate in protocol development and implementation plans for new studies.
Create training materials and conduct study trainings.
Data management and analysis
Develop and maintain study REDCap and ODK databases, including reviewing and cleaning data for quality control and providing support to the study data managers.
Contribute to data management strategies and build study data management tools.
Develop data reports, including enrollment and retention tracking.
Troubleshoot data collection issues.
Assist in preparing reports and presentations for external advisory panel meetings and lead portions of these meetings.
Using basic descriptive analysis and developed skills in both qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpret findings.
Present study findings at scientific conferences and symposia.
Assist in the dissemination of results to stakeholders via oral presentations, facilitated discussions, and written reports.
Serve as part of team developing the capacity to use new data collection tools, such as Redcap and Open Data Kit.
Admin and operations
Develop and maintain file storage systems for study materials
Lead weekly operation and leadership team calls to discuss status of the project.
Build collaborative relationships with implementing partners.
Collaborate with a diverse study team of different backgrounds and specialties.
Learn from direct clinical observation under physician leadership.
Organize and participate in annual all-collaborator meetings.
Maintain positive relationships and timely communication with all study staff, collaborators and stakeholders.
Develop and maintain study websites.
Participate in regular meetings with COMA-SABI study coordinators group.
Review project budgets and subcontracts in collaboration with budget and grants manager.
Facilitate purchasing and procurement as needed.
Coordinate travel and study meetings as needed.
Grant Proposals and Publications 25%
Draft abstracts describing the results of this work to be used in grant proposals.
Contribute to manuscripts and report writing.
Submit final abstracts to conferences.
Perform literature reviews.
Develop analysis plans.
Participate as co-author on manuscripts.
Prepare grant application materials for submission.
Assist in responding to pre-award requests, such as a ‘Just-in-time’.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, statistics, or related field, equivalent experience can substitute for degree requirement.
1-2 years of experience in clinical or public health research.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills in statistical analysis through coursework or direct research support.
Creating data reports using Stata.
Assisting with developing data collection tools.
Writing and presenting reports.
Effective in working both within a team and individually.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in sensitive clinical situations, i.e. talking to family members of very ill patients.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Communication skills.
Knowledge about stroke.
Knowledge about palliative care.
