About the Team: Quizlet’s Subscriptions teams build mission-critical systems that provide seamless financial transactions, subscription lifecycles, and secure payment flows for our users globally. With millions of users subscribing to our platform, we focus on building reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure that supports high volume payments and subscriptions across web and mobile. About the Role: As an Engineering Manager, you will help us build and grow our subscriptions teams based in San Francisco. You will lead world class engineers to build mission critical systems that power our subscriptions across web and mobile platforms. To add, you’ll collaborate closely with product management to analyze requirements, test new ideas and deliver highly scalable and reliable solutions. You will wear your technical hat to influence architecture decisions and lead engineering initiatives to improve the platform. While mentoring tech leads and engineers in your teams, guide them technically and grow the next leaders. We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office at a minimum of three days a week : Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company. In this role, you will:

    • Lead the subscription engineering teams building our next gen subscriptions platform
    • Collaborate closely with product and other cross-functional partners to define product roadmap, tech strategy, and goals
    • Set up and improve engineering practices, set a high bar for engineering efficiency, and constantly improve the team
    • Understand and balance team’s goals between business deliverables, short term and long term engineering needs
    • Hire, mentor, and grow a diverse and high-performing engineering team that prides in delivering high quality business deliverables
    • Communicate effectively with engineers, engineering leaders, and cross-functional partners, contributing to Quizlet’s overall success

What you bring to the table:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
    • Over 10 years of software engineering experience with at least 4 years of experience managing software teams
    • Proven track record of managing high performance teams, delivering highly scalable engineering products and platforms
    • Strong technical skills with ability to roll up the sleeves to code when needed
    • Excellent system design skills with experience in designing distributed systems, microservices and high volume global transactional systems
    • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams and strong ability handling conflicting priorities of business and engineering
    • Exceptional communication skills with ability to communicate with the team and upwards
    • Excellent project management skills to plan term goals, sprint deliverables. Provide visibility and transparency, tracking and driving team to success
    • Results-driven, energetic and all action manager who creates a culture of innovation, self-drive, ownership and accountability

Bonus points if you have:

    • Experience working in payments and subscriptions domain
    • Experience working in customer facing high volume transactional systems

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $205,000 - $260,000, depending on location and experience, as well as company stock option
