The HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER PHARMACY DEPARTMENT is looking for an outstanding PHARMACY TECHNICIAN to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team.
WORK SCHEDULE
• 40 hours per week
• Rotating/variable shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
• Assist the Pharmacist in professional activities and assigned tasks including preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacy-related functions
• All activities are performed under the general supervision of a registered Pharmacist
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work in the IV room and compound IV medications in accordance with USP 797 standards
• Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital
• Package medications in single-unit packages
• Restock shelves in the unit dose fill and front counter areas
• Complete monthly outdate check and cleaning as assigned by Supervisor
• Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for Nursing Units
• Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages
• Perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula, under the supervision of a Pharmacist
• Perform computer entry of prescriptions and charge/credit data
• Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital
• Handle and prepare hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 standards
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT
State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.
