login to your UW employee profile to apply. Shift: First Shift PHYSICAL THERAPY TECHNICIAN/AIDE
Under the direction of a Physical Therapist, the PT Technician cleans and maintains department equipment, assists in preparing patients for therapy, assists all physical therapists in maintaining a smooth flow of patient care, and performs other support tasks as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares, maintains, and cleans treatment areas and equipment includes but is not limited to:
• Maintains a clean and organized working environment.
• Empties trash and dirty linen.
• Makes sure treatment areas are properly stocked with supplies.
• Follows established procedures for care and cleaning of equipment.
2. Assists therapists with patient treatment includes but is not limited to:
• Transports patients to physical therapy/pool for treatment.
• Assists patients as necessary prior, during and at the conclusion of treatment.
• Assists patient in the safe practice of activities related to the development of strength and endurance.
• Performs treatment procedures predetermined for each patient by the physical therapist and under the direct supervision of that therapist.
• Assists therapists with gait, balance, transfer training of difficult and/or heavy care patients.
3. Provides general support to the department includes but is not limited to:
• Transports records, equipment, and supplies.
• Performs assigned general office procedures.
• Places daily physical therapy notes on patient charts.
• Maintains and cleans support areas.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Education Background: High school education or GED equivalent
• Licensure, Registration, Certification: None required
• Special Training/Skills: Able to interact effectively with the public. Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics and lifting techniques. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/department.
DESIRED:
Work experience in a physical therapy department or related health care field preferred.
