We are looking for a Data Scientist to join one of our Experience Mission teams (Play X). The Experience Mission is responsible for all of Spotify consumer experiences across our mobile apps as well as platforms like web, TVs, speakers, cars, wearables, and partner application integrations to make Spotify available wherever our users are. In this specific individual contributor role you will support in bringing high quality audio and video experiences to Spotify users and the global artist community alike. We are laser focused on ensuring all our playback experiences and reporting are of the highest quality. We provide playback related data science knowledge to the organization by empowering evidence-based decision making and building data-intensive tooling to drive product improvements.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to improving the core and ubiquity playback performance experience across Spotify’s fast evolving audio and video formats.
• Lead the creation, validation and monitoring of video performance metrics for non-mobile clients.
• Use data science methods to independently identify and work on the most impactful user problems for prioritization.
• Partner with other data scientists to thoughtfully inform, design, implement A/B tests and rollouts across formats and platforms to deliver actionable insights.
• Deliver on large scale analyses, dashboard development and data pipeline creation to empower data-driven decision making.
• Communicate insights and recommendations to collaborators and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely across disciplines with product, engineering and design.

Who You Are

• Knowledgeable about data science and product insights. We use languages such as Python and SQL (with some occasional Scala). Although you might not have a background in our field, bringing knowledge and experience from other fields is merited.
• Strong analytical skills with a passion for solving complex problems.
• Able to work autonomously, capable of solving loosely defined problems and translating sophisticated thinking into practical application for diverse audiences.
• Communicative person who values building strong relationships with colleagues.
• Comfortable working in complex technical problem spaces and passionate about product insights and data science methods for improving the user experience.
• Practical experience with A/B testing methodologies, designing and executing experiments, and data visualization tooling (we use Tableau and Data Studio).
