Edge Technology Engineering runs software for one of the world's largest CDNs, supporting major events like the IPL and handling over 80 Tbps of traffic daily.
We seek a Software Engineer to design and develop software, tools, frameworks, and benchmark web, caching, and streaming servers in the Akamai Cloud.

Make a difference in a critical area of our business

You'll join the team that benchmarks, optimizes, and tests Akamai's global network software. This software integrates web server, web client, caching, streaming, security, and fast routing technologies, providing scalable solutions and comprehensive reporting.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and develop optimal, scalable, and robust software powering major online events like the IPL.
• Working with programming languages such as C/C++ and Python/Perl
• Investigating and analyze the root cause of technical issues / performance bottlenecks.
• Developing and execute the strategy for evaluating potential performance and COGS initiatives.
• Benchmarking various server metrics, across releases/hardware, to ensure quality and high performance.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science. Have exposure to working in Unix/Linux
• Have excellent understanding of Automation Frameworks, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Operating System concepts
• Have Proficient in one programming language (C, C++) and a scripting language (Python, Perl, Shell, etc.).
• Have exposure or interest in internet technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.
• Have a passion for solving large-scale systems, attention to detail, and excellent debugging skills.
• Be highly responsible, self-managed, and self-motivated to understand, learn, and dissect new technologies quickly.
