OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Responsible for the scope, schedule, and budget for BioLife Plasma Center construction projects as well as renovations, remodels, and miscellaneous projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to concurrently manage and deliver multiple projects across the U.S. according to company growth objectives.
  • Oversee supplier contracts to ensure adherence to agreements, specifications, and policies.

SCOPE

The Manager of Engineering Project Management reports to the Head of Engineering Project Management and also collaborates with Operations, New Center Development, EHS, Security, Quality, Legal, IT, Procurement, and Corporate Real Estate. The Manager is responsible for overseeing suppliers and vendors for construction project management of BioLife Plasma Center projects, including new construction, renovations, remodels, testing lab improvements, equipment replacements, sustainability, and other miscellaneous projects.

Job expectations include delivery of all new construction and miscellaneous projects to achieve project budgets, schedules, and scope, while communicating and collaborating to exceed program expectations. The role requires oversight of project contracts to ensure compliance to project specifications and company policies, as well as an understanding of project management practices, building design and engineering specifications, and contributions for value engineering and continuous improvement.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plasma Center & Miscellaneous Construction Project Management (40%)
    • Deliver assigned new Plasma Center locations and miscellaneous projects according to the defined scope, schedule, and budget
    • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers that are responsible for new Plasma Center development to ensure adherence to project specifications and compliance to company policies
    • Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design of new expansion projects
    • Oversee contracts to ensure supplier and vendor alignment to agreements
    • Ensure that contracted resources deliver work to meet duration and quality targets, addressing and ensuring the correction of under-performance issues
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish the successful delivery of projects
    • Identify, manage, and communicate risk to mitigate project delays and budget overspend
    • Oversight of project budgets and vendor/supplier invoicing to ensure compliance to company financial governance
    • Comprehensive budget tracking, forecasting, and management of assigned expansion, remodel, and new build projects
    • Review and analysis of all proposed cost and schedule change requests
    • Negotiate contracts and change orders with General Contractors and trade contractors and present formal documentation for approval when required
    • Responsible for simultaneously managing multiple projects in various locations across the U.S.
    • Survey potential expansion sites, provide evaluations and analysis, and recommend solutions to facility infrastructure, safety and security
    • Facilitate and team up with internal stakeholders regarding engineering buildouts, IT/Security readiness, and turnover to operational groups
    • Provide overall site management, coordination, planning, specification of business proposals and coordination of subcontractors
  • Miscellaneous Project Management (20%)
    • Oversee miscellaneous projects according to the defined scope, schedule, and budget
    • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure adherence to project specifications and compliance to company policies
    • Lead construction scope review and development with internal stakeholders, and facilitate engineering and design efforts.
    • Provide technical direction on engineering design / AutoCAD, building design, layouts, build details, schedules and materials in accordance to URS
    • Facilitate and team with others on due diligence evaluation of new opportunities
    • Oversee contracts to ensure supplier and vendor alignment to agreements
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish the successful delivery of projects
    • Identify, manage, and communicate risk to mitigate project delays and budget overspend
    • Oversight of project budgets and vendor/supplier invoicing to ensure compliance to company financial governance
  • Stakeholder Collaboration (40%)
    • Collaborate with Operations, New Center Development, EHS, Security, Quality Legal, IT, Procurement, and Corporate Real Estate to deliver projects according to expectations
    • Communicate with credibility to ensure alignment among stakeholders and continuity of project delivery

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional Expertise:

  • Technical engineering skills to understand and coordinate work, terminology, methods, best practices, and innovation in order to optimize design and construction work
  • Project management expertise with ability to manage multiple projects across the U.S.
  • Understanding of financial practices for annual budgeting, project costs, and governance
  • Ability to understand and administer contracts
  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, data management and reporting, project tracking and reporting, and documentation software systems

  • Manage multiple projects dispersed across the U.S. in a collaborative environment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Make decisions that align to ethical standards, governance requirements, and compliance policies
  • Understand when to inform stakeholders and leadership of critical information and escalations to mitigate risk
  • Manage technical issues while considering financial impact balanced with risk management
  • Work independently in the assigned region
  • Support contractors’ work and help them achieve higher performance level
  • Coach and guide all project teams (developers, design engineers, general contractors, sub-contractors, internal stakeholders) throughout the full project lifecycle
  • Lead and/or assist in negotiations with appropriate authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) entities as required

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES, AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or comparable and a minimum of 5 years of construction management and project management industry related experience.
  • 5 years of experience operating within at least two disciplines within the construction industry, which could consist of General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, or Engineering & Design, or similar
  • Prior experience with budget, contract, schedule, scope, and project management in construction and/or engineering.
  • Preferred experience with simultaneously managing multiple dispersed projects throughout the United States
  • Understanding AIA formats/procedures for estimating, budgeting, cost analysis, change orders, and project close-out.
  • Disciplined action and execution, ability to drive operational excellence, promote teamwork, and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage change, providing both strategic and tactical leadership and to foster an environment of continuous improvement

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

U.S. travel - 60-75%-Required

Base Salary Range: $105,000 to $150,000 Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(K), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$108,500.00 - $170,500.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
