In your role as a Software Engineering Manager, you will help us build a motivated team. You will bring a background of varied technical capabilities that can include system design, engineering workflows, and online architectures. Reporting a Technical Director, this means building thoughtful engineering teams, partnering with the teams and responsibilities that your teams will support, always with an eye on how to achieve the best quality capabilities and services that our players can rely on.

This role will be hybrid/onsite in Victoria, BC

Responsibilities:

  • You will run all aspects of people management for your diverse and global engineering teams. This ranges from hiring, to career growth and promotion, to performance management.
  • You will improve team health (stress awareness and managing employee well-being).
  • Organize and lead mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and guidance to grow your engineers.
  • Drive staffing and recruitment for our teams. Help us by hiring the engineers we need to grow our engineering culture
  • Foster an agile engineering culture that values delivery, quality, and good craftsmanship.
  • Determine the technical resource requirements to meet project goals.
  • Promote and help create technical processes, plans, and management of tasks for technical teams/features.
  • Coordinate strategic efforts and planning with team members, project partners, product owners, and other partners.
  • Improve workflows, tools, and iteration loops to increase productivity.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in engineering and technology, including attendance at conferences, seminars, and meet-ups
  • Contribute to the project with hands-on programming subject to managerial workload.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 7+ year relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading agile engineering teams of 6+ engineers
  • Experience with mentoring, goal setting, mediation and career planning
  • Experience identifying and recruiting talent based on staffing requirements; you understand candidate hiring practices including interviewing techniques
  • Technical and practical understanding of OOP and C++ that enables you to coach engineers in their trade
  • Experience with development environment tools such as Perforce, Git, Visual Studio
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment best practices

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.
EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
o $115,100 - $161,200 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
