Job Description

SEI is bringing a systems engineering approach to the Zoox mobility-as-a-service product. We are systems engineers working directly with other supporting ecosystem teams to develop and mature architectures, validations, tools, and processes inspired by systems engineering best practices. Zoox is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, Systems Engineer to lead and drive the processes, methods, and tools that are used by all systems engineers across the company. You will be responsible for setting strategy for diverse systems engineering groups in processes, methods, and tools including: requirements and design documentation; verification and validation documentation; traceability assessment; change management; variation and configuration management; problem solving processes; and failure mode analysis processes.

In this role, you will:

    • Work with requirements owners across the company to establish and maintain a Zoox requirements process standard, including defining systems and boundaries, and maintain a “single source of truth” database of requirements
    • Work with hardware and software implementation teams across the company to establish a design and integration pattern
    • Work with product, operations, and PMO teams to establish and maintain a harmonized V-Model development plan that supports both agile practices and waterfall practices
    • Work with simulation and modeling teams to establish and maintain digital twin parity with text-based design collateral
    • Collaborate with IT applications team to evaluate select systems engineering tools and create a roadmap for requirements, documentation, and modeling tools
    • Work with quality systems teams to establish a complete map of change management forums and close any gaps between forums.
    • Work with learning and development team to create training materials to scale all best practices to relevant training populations

Qualifications

    • 8+ years of engineering work experience
    • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, standards, or frameworks (INCOSE Handbook, NASA Systems Engineering Handbook, ISO 29148, ISO 15288)
    • Deep knowledge of DBSE, document-based systems engineering
    • Deep experience with requirements and validation software (e.g. IBM DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Jama)
    • Deep experience with design documentation software (e.g. Confluence, Google suite, Dessault suite, Autodesk suite)
    • Deep experience with design version control software (e.g. Github, BOMs)
    • Deep understanding of hardware development practices (Waterfall) and software development practices (Agile)
    • Familiar with functional safety concepts and evidenced-based testing methodologies
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment and proactively collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to solve process problems, and demonstrate strong leadership skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be self-motivated, with a desire to continuously improve and learn

Bonus Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
    • Experience working with modeling software (e.g. Cameo, MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, Simulink, SysML)
    • Understanding of Homologation Processes
    • Proficiency in Scripting Languages
    • Experience with API Development and Integration
    • Experience with problem solving practices (ASQ 8D, Toyota PPS, Root Cause Analysis techniques)
$167,000 - $279,000 a year Compensation There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $167,000 to $277,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
