The Role A Security Engineer is focused on the evaluation, design, development, deployment, and management of the security solutions needed to secure the product environments at Veeva. This will include things like; intrusion detection, web application firewall, secure configuration management, data analytics/metrics and dashboards, development of automated processes for security tools, and infrastructure management. A Security Engineer works closely with other teams at Veeva, and will look externally to partner with unique and innovative security companies.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the development, deployment, and maintenance of our web application firewall, host intrusion, file integrity monitoring, and other security solutions
- Primary support for our web application firewall solution, tuning and supporting product development
- Development support for the operation and expansion of our security data lake. Creating new collection/transformation scripts, and building dashboards and visualizations
- Develop, mature, and deploy new and existing security protection, detection, and response capabilities
- Automate the deployment and configuration of security tools in the DevSecOps pipeline
- Integration of security tools through APIs, webhook, or other custom methods as needed
- Build relationships with and assist product teams with support and issue triage for security solutions
- Document best practices, user/process/implementation guides, etc.
- Mentor junior security engineers, developers, or platform engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
- 2+ years of experience in a Security Engineering / Operations / Architecture role
- Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining one or more (endpoint security, web application firewall, network security, host intrusion, file integrity monitoring)
- Application development/scripting experience with Python, or other another language
- Strong understanding of the TCP /IP Stack, Web-Application Architecture, Encryption fundamentals & OWASP Top 10
- Working knowledge of DevOps concepts (CI/CD systems, source code management, 3rd-party library/module management)
- Strong understanding of systems security, hardening best practices
- Technical skills to translate business requirements into terms that developers can understand
Nice to Have
- Master of Science in Cyber Security, Information Security, MIS, or equivalent
- Certifications: CISSP, CCSP, AWS Solutions Architect / Security
- Hands-on cloud security experience handling (IAM permissions and infrastructure security)
- Hands-on network security experience (firewalls, runtime application self-protection, NAC, 802 .1x, IPS, malware detection, etc. )
- Experience with incident response technologies, signature development & analysis of false positive alerts
- Experience with web application security testing tools and techniques (SAST, DAST, SCA, fuzzing, etc.)

Compensation
- Base pay: $90,000 - $125,000
- The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
