Job Description

RETHINK MANUFACTURING The only way to ignite change is to build the best team. At Bright Machines®, we’re innovators and experts in our craft who have joined together to create a new category of manufacturing that will help transform the industry. We believe software and data are the answer, thoughtfully applied to solve our customers’ unique challenges. Through intelligent automation, we give factories newfound flexibility, scalability, and resilience. We deliver products to meet the demands of today while building a platform to take advantage of what comes next. Working with us means you’ll have the opportunity to make lasting, impactful changes for our company and our customers. If you’re ready to apply your exceptional skills to create the factory of the future, we’d love to speak with you. ABOUT THE ROLE Design at Bright Machines works closely with Product, Software Engineering, and Computer Vision teams to solve the complex and interesting challenges of automation in manufacturing for our software-driven robotics solution. The problems we address on a daily basis provide a unique and rewarding mix of technical and user interaction challenges – from innovative automation solutions, to complex software deployment workflows, to the physical interactions with our robots and the software that drives them. As Senior UI/UX Designer at Bright Machines, you will help define these experiences, interfaces, and design systems driving our software-defined manufacturing solutions. You will be joining a small but impactful product team reshaping the manufacturing industry through innovative machine learning, computer vision, 3D simulation, and automation technologies. At Bright Machines we believe in the power of UX research and Human Centered Design as a way to inform what we need to build. We believe UX design needs to be built on a solid foundation of product & UX research. In this role you will find a unique opportunity to positively impact the work of next-generation manufacturing industry professionals – solving interesting, challenging, and rewarding design problems.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    • Help define the user experience and design the user interface of our software products – creating information architecture, user flows, interfaces and specs – and continuing to develop, maintain, and evolve our design library and language.
    • Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Computer Vision, Systems Engineering, and Field Operations teams to create solutions to the challenges our users face on a daily basis
    • Helping to identify user pain points and to define features to solve for them
    • Translating product requirements and UX research into detailed interfaces, information architecture, workflows and prototypes
    • Participating in and many times leading user research sessions to help inform design and product decisions
    • This role is a hybrid UI/UX role with an emphasis on UX that informs UI and interaction design

WHAT WE WANT TO SEE

    • 8+ years of designing interfaces and interactions for digital products
    • Bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, HCI or other relevant degree – or comparable experience
    • A deep understanding of Design fundamentals – typography, color, contrast, grid systems, etc. A keen sense of when to make the rules, and when to break them
    • Experience defining effective and accessible DesignSystems – how all of the parts work together – beyond individual views and screens
    • Agility in working through ambiguity – you aren’t afraid of confronting uncertainty, identifying and defining users’ needs, and building something out of nothing
    • A healthy balance of pragmatism and the ideal - you recognize gaps that need to be filled and can balance functionality, usability and innovation
    • An eagerness to hear our users – collect feedback, understand problems, and work with our users to create practical and pleasant design solutions that solve our users’ problems

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD

    • Experience with projects involving 3D graphics, CAD, 3D visualization, 3D interactions or similar applications
    • Fluency with Figma and its component system
    • Working knowledge of web technologies and accessibility guidelines
$140,000 - $160,000 a year #LI-DNI BE EMPOWERED TO CHANGE AN INDUSTRY We’re looking for people who believe they can personally help modernize a global industry and want to work alongside passionate teammates who share their vision.
