The Role Netflix is seeking an experienced VFX Manager to support the expanding content slate in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, able to pivot when necessary, thorough, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organisation and unwavering attention to detail at all times. This is a demanding and fast-moving position that requires someone who is able to exercise good judgement under pressure and shows initiative with a forward-thinking positive attitude to new technologies and workflows. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Working with our Studio Creative Executives, Production and Finance teams during development and pre-production to evaluate VFX scope and feasibility.
- Assessing scripts, VFX breakdowns, budgets and schedules, and providing feedback and recommendations to Production Partners on VFX production plans and approach.
- Providing guidance to Production Partners on visual effects vendor selection leveraging insights into recent work and available capacity.
- Supporting Production Partners in sourcing VFX crew, including VFX Supervisors and Producers, when needed.
- Reviewing progress and cost reports and working closely with the show teams to anticipate and troubleshoot schedule and budget issues.
- Collaborating with cross-functional Netflix teams to ensure productions are meeting schedule, budgetary and creative expectations.
- Working with the VFX Producer or Post supervisor to facilitate streamlined regular reporting for a show to generate a concise snapshot of the budget, schedule, and VFX progress.
- Selecting key VFX shots and sequences for review, working closely with the Content Executive to ensure creative and quality expectations are aligned and feedback is provided in a concise and timely manner.
- Connecting with local VFX companies to build and maintain insight into market dynamics.
- Working with Netflix teams to identify opportunities to collaborate with local providers, network with local VFX talent and ensure future resource needs can be met.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in the local VFX industry managing projects with large scale and budget, supporting TV series or feature films.
- The ideal candidate will have held both a significant position with one or more vendors and had client-side production experience.
- Strong network with key vendors and crew/talent in Poland and ability to further curate those relationships.
- Extensive experience in creating and reviewing budgets and schedules for complex projects.
- Experience and ability to review and analyse projects from the pitches, treatment, and scripts.
- Ability to analyse and creatively assess and comment on work coming from multiple vendors and production partners.
- Technical understanding of the visual effects process including 4K pipelines as well as emerging technologies for improving workflows.
- Understanding of tax incentives and rebates.
- Fluency in English and Polish is required.
