Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a dynamic leader ready to build powerful organizing strategies to fuel campaigns that will protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care as the Associate Director of Organizing Strategy and Training. This job reports to the Senior Director of National Organizing and Political Campaigns in the Organizing and Engagement Campaigns Department of the Policy, Campaigns, and Advocacy division of PPFA. Purpose: As Director of Organizing Strategy and Training, this role’s primary responsibility is to design and implement organizing support programs that help PPFA and PPAF galvanize the organizations' base to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care. ●This role works closely with affiliate public affairs staff, primarily organizers and managers, who implement organizing strategies, to align the federation towards a shared organizing methodology. ●This role works across departments internally within the national office and in close partnership with affiliate organizations to actualize strategic organizing plans and fulfill organizing support needs as appropriate and relevant to meeting campaign goals. ●This position requires an innovative do-er with a passion for problem solving, identifying sustainable solutions, and curiosity. Engagement: As Director of Organizing Strategy and Training, this role will work directly with national and affiliate staff to identify best practices, challenges, and opportunities to achieve organizing results. This position will work to: ●Lead the strategy and management of the 50 state organizing strategic support plan and operations from from the national office ●Develop creative learning spaces and cross cutting working groups that encourage collaboration across national and affiliate staff. ●Responsible for creating, testing, and scaling coaching models for affiliate organizing support that sustains long term organizing efforts and supports the Federation’s organizing theory of change ●Manage outside vendors or other paid partners to help implement strategies to reach scale through supporting the needs of the organizing efforts. ●Ability to lead others through diplomatic approach to working with a deeply diverse community across experiences, thought, and identities ●Coach and collaborate with working groups, existing and new, to achieve organizing and campaign results. ●Identifying partners and experts within the federation or outside of to help achieve organizing results through training, coaching, learning, or other methods of sharing knowledge/expertise Delivery: ●Develop, design, and implement national organizing strategies that focus on skill development of federation staff to build long term power ●Work with national and affiliate staff to make sure organizing support materials serve both long term and short term mobilization goals ●Manage working groups of both affiliate and national staff to achieve desired outcomes of organizing and campaign efforts ●Manage programmatic budgets that directly support the outcomes of identified projects ●Manage cross-departmental and divisional teams to collaborate on large scale convenings at least 1 time per year, but sometimes more. This is dependent on the needs of Planned Parenthood Votes and/or Planned Parenthood Action Fund. ●Provide technical assistance to affiliates and national staff through managing in house resources such as toolkits, recorded trainings, and other resources at scale. ●Provide strategic support across teams in creating campaign plans that create space for healthy, long term organizing ●Identify opportunities to innovate with organizing teams across affiliates and national staff to find cutting edge solutions to organizing across in person and online platforms ●Leads team members as in house coach to support national and local organizing efforts. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): ●5-7 years of experience as a lead organizer, organizing manager, and/or organizing director ●A record of success in peer-to-peer coaching, training, and facilitation ●Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to assess other using emotional intelligence ●Collaborative work style and experience working in a federated structure ●Experience creating learning experiences in non-traditional training or education models, designs and outcomes, including the ability to evaluate program and curriculum/content. ●Experience and proven record of leading through an anti-racist, anti-oppression framework ●Experience leading diverse communities across identities, experiences, and perspectives ●Strong analysis on reproductive health, rights, and justice frameworks ●Knowledge of movement organizing and training practices outside of PP is a strong plus ●Strong communication skills both written and verbal ●A sense of humor and desire to be part of a team ●Ability to work in a fast paced environment Travel: 25-50% $115,000 - $120,000 a year Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
